Plavix is a prescription anti-platelet drug that is used to treat or prevent heart attacks, strokes and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs). Plavix is also used to prevent clots after heart surgery, and to treat patients who are at risk of developing clots due to atrial fibrillation. A 30 day supply of Plavix costs from $100 to $200, depending on the dose required. Patients without insurance may be eligible for help paying for Plavix through a Bristol-Myers Squibb patient assistance program.

Bristol-Myers Squibb LIfeLines of Care Benefits

The Bristol-Myers Squibb Patient Assistance Foundation, LifeLines of Care, provides Plavix at no cost to eligible patients. After an application is approved, the foundation will send a 90 day supply of Plavix to the patient's physician. The application can be downloaded from http://www.bmspaf.org/program1.html. Patients can also call 1 (800) 736-0003 for an application.

Plavix Patient Assistance Eligibility

Only patients with no prescription drug insurance are eligible for free Plavix from the Bristol Meyers Squibb Patient Assistance Foundation. Patients without private prescription drug insurance, but who are eligible for public programs such as Medicaid or Medicare part D also don't qualify for LifeLines of Care. In addition, patients must live in the U.S., Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands, and meet certain income criteria. The income eligibility levels are revised annually.
