Prepaid Credit Cards For People With Bad Credit

Updated on July 13, 2009

Today’s society is getting more and more used to spending without the use of cold hard cash. The use of credit cards and debit cards has become a way of life for the majority of people. They use them to make payments on things ranging from holidays, bills, grocery shopping and even to pay for a round of drinks in a bar.

Prepaid credit cards for people with bad credit are also available to apply for and can result in allowing people to benefit from the freedom associated with using a regular card. Here are a few reasons why you should get one.

Prepaid Credit Cards For People Who Have Had Debt Problems

If you have found yourself in a lot of credit card debt you may not be able to apply for the usual type of credit card. Today it is difficult to get things done without this piece of plastic in your wallet so a prepaid credit card could solve all your problems.

Credit For Those Without A Credit History

Some people are unable to qualify for a credit card. This can be due to the fact that they have no credit history. This is what financial institutions use to decide whether you are a desirable customer. If they have nothing to look at that reflects your past spending or commitment to paying something then they prefer not to issue a card. This is also a way that they use to combat fraudulent applications. If you can not prove that you make regular payments to something like utilities payments or car payments, banks get a little nervous.

Credit For Those With A Bad Credit History

You don’t need to get a credit check. If you have a bad credit history, this will not affect your ability to sign up for a preloaded credit card as you will be using your own funds and not the banks money whenever you are making payments by card.

Credit Without Getting Into Debt

There is absolutely no danger of getting into debt with this type of card. You can only use the amount of money that you have topped it up with. You can be in complete control of your spending. When the money runs out, that’s it until you add more to the pot.

Receive Payments Easily

Many companies or institutions require you to have a bank account in order for them to make payments to you. A prepaid card can make this an easy solution if you find that you are unable to open a bank account.

Prepaid credit cards for people with bad credit could be the answer to your prayers. Anyone over the age of 18 can make an application. Take a look at the different cards that are currently available and find one that suits all your requirements.

It's unfortunate but when you add up the fees and misleading information most prepaid cards are just another way for Corporate America to cheat the poor. Many prepaid cards do not report back to Credit Bureaus so there is never any credit built up. The fees can be very very high. If Corporate America were not so dishonest they would be a good idea, but then if that were true people probably wouldn't need them.

@rb11 - I wouldn't be surprised. With so many people in debt, they will need alternative options to get to their cash.

I believe these CC will increase in usage as more people have their credit scores damaged due to the current credit crisis.
