From an AP news release today:

"Japanese regulators ordered Citibank on Friday to suspend all sales operations in its retail banking division for a month starting July 15 because the lender had failed to make notification of suspicious transactions, including money laundering.

Why is this bank still around I mean, seriously, am I the only person on planet earth who thinks this legalized club for financial thugs should be shut down?

That is disgusting! Think we could do without banks like that.

No doubt! I think Citi, BOA, and AIG (not a bank, I know) should be broken  up and the unsuccessful parts allowed (encouraged!) to fail.

I don't understand why we are letting them get away with this.

Well, I understand it, but like you said, it disgusts me.

hmm, why would you say they are thug? Citi is a well known and respected company as far as I know. They do have great leadership as well.

In term of AML (anti money laundering) they do educate their employees well on that. So i dont seem to see any reason why they should be broken down.

Do you have bad experience with Citi?
