Would you support an increase to the 18.4 cent/gallon federal gas tax?
The interstate highway system is maintained by the federal gas tax which hasn't risen in almost 20 years. Would you support an increase in the tax if a greater portion of it is used to fund public transit?
If it was used for that but I fear it would go the way of the state lottery, money was supposed to go towards education, but alas, most doea not.
Heck no! They are already taxing everything as it is! I remember 13 years ago, when I worked as an assistant manager at a gas station. We participated in "gas wars" and set our prices consistent with competitors. We were getting gas for $0.97 a gallon.
I have a good idea! Why don't they stop buying oil from the foreign countries and open refineries here in our own country. I know someone sitting on land that could be leased and drilled into. Worry about our own economy and let our people make that money off our own resources. That would be an excellent way to improve our economic conditions while saving us money on fuel costs.
It's a trade-off and having used the public transit system for years, I know how useful and essential it is to an urban society. A moderate raise in gas tax is not too much to ask so that people who are not fortunate enough to have a car or for whatever reason must use public transit can do so without having to spend an arm and a leg, yeah, that's a good idea.

Would you support a flat 15% income tax?Would you support a flat 15% income tax in this country? Other than a personal deduction (possibly in the neighborhood of 25k per individual/50k per couple) there would be no deductions.

This may not be news to a whole lot of people, but, I am getting sick of this. Why isn't the Government doing anything about it, especially when they know that it is killing our economy? Not, to mention that we are fighting wars over it, only to have the countries we are "Aiding" are...
