    What unique differences are there between the terms “Assurance” and “Insurance”?

    It works quite easily, you 'insure,' to protect against something that may happen.  Assurance is something that will happen, that is why we take out 'life assurance', and not life insurance, death is certain, but we insure against, say, our home being burgled, which, if we're lucky, will never happen.
