I need some tips for a family member when it comes to buying Part B for Medicare.
Where do you purchase PART B from and do you have to shop around.
You don't have to shop around. Part A is free and part B can bought directly from the gov't. Part B is the primary coverage for Dr's visits. Premiums come directly from your SS check. Most people by a medigap policy to supplement part B since it only covers 80% of expenses. Those can be bought through groups like AARP. I believe what you are referencing is Part C and or Part D. Part C is privately sponsered plan that combines A,B & D for convience. If you want to find out more about programs like C& D you can contact your states, Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP Office).
