Why isn't more being done to assist individuals being crushed by Federal Student Loan Debt?
What specifically would you suggest? I'm not sure what can be done except to advise future students of the dangers and drawbacks of overextending themselves. The education and bigger and better job won't mean much if they have to use all of their salary for loan repayment.
It would be nice if we could do more with regard to the ridiculous cost of books and tuition.
When I had crushing student debt, I did the following. I worked part time to supplement my earnings while going to school.
I also obtained Grants and Loans to assist my expenses.
After graduating, I spent a few years paying off my loans.
I also went to school locally so that I could live at home (mostly free) and not have to pay out of state tuition rates at the school.
I also bought used books instead of the new ones. And ate a lot of Mac & Cheese or spaghetti.
And Finally, public protesting at the college about the high rates being asked for tuition.
