    I guess it's because the individual is not (open) to changing their mindset. They're still dwelling on how "life is not fair" or "how things ought to be" instead of (accepting the reality) of a situation. Some people have to exhaust all hope for a (miracle) before they'll take any "practical steps" to resolve an issue.

      Excellent answer, sounds quite plausible with regard to a friend. I'm debating on becoming the "I told you so" person, but I will try to hold off or not do that at all.

    I don't think they are ready for change or realize those who have walked those paths do have answers. They must come to that place in their lives. Looking to our elders today is not a common practice, we should all take from their many years of learning. I looked to the elders of my family in fascination. To this day I share it with my children, and they with theirs. I shre with my clients at work. They many times quote me. I will share something written by a client. I will not use his name for lack of permission. He verbally said I may share it with others as I was so touched by it:  Soar high and live free; these are the words my creator gave to me, so I could give to you so you can pass them on to your Grandchildren when I'm gone. Beautiful.
