Would Using a GoFundMe Be Considered Selfish?
I'm not exactly a rich man, and I wasn't born with a silver spoon up my ass, but I love to travel and write about it. Some of my future Hubs require going to Boston, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago, and most likely San Francisco soon.
Would starting a GoFundMe page for this endeavor, when there are other GoFundMe pages that have a more important background, be considered selfish of me?
I'm not one of those guys who is starting one because I can't be arsed to a credit card debt, or to buy a car, or make a child support payment. However is funding for my writing career selfish?
As long as you are honest and upfront about why you are asking for money then go ahead. People will either choose to help you or not. Selfishness really is a lack of consideration for others. So long as you show consideration for others by being upfront and honest, then it is other people's issue to fund or not to fund.
I fully agree with James. I think you are not selfish as long as you state your purpose clearly. We all have various responsibilities and if you can get funding of any amount in this way while being honest to those you are asking for funds, I do not see it as selfish at all.
