You can yes, however given the amount of time spent which is far superior to writing articles for Hubpages I do not find it is worth the time. Sure it would create a passive income in the end, but the income does not nearly justify the work performed.

I am awaiting a check from Clickbank right now - almost $200 which takes a little effort.  You have to know where to post and must be involved with traffic exchanges and list-building sites.  It is free to sign-up at clickbank and become an affiliate.  You can look on the front page and see what is selling largely right now, in real time.  Those are the ones you want to chose to promote.  Whatever may look silly to you, may be a bestseller so don't ever underestimate a product.  All the best.

Yesterday I read a hub by a seasoned HUbber about how to make $1000 a moth from affiliate programmes using HUbPages as a web site. The consensus of opinion said that it is possible to make money but only from good quality information being published. And making at least 200-500 quality articles. There is a lot to learn and rss feeds, link backs, blogging, widgets and basic marketing. I discovered something today that has a wow factor. I discovered how to make an Amazon widget and to publish it on not only web sites but also social networks in such a way that it can be copied and freely distributed-therefore making money. But HubPages is fantastic it has given me a new lease of life and I have so much that I want to write down before my time on this earth ends. It is truely a 21st Century Printing Press where everyone can participate-value this new media without abuse and it will pay you back for many years.

Affiliate programs work, but you need a LOT of traffic to convert it. So, you need a lot of hubs, or high traffic websites, preferably both.

Which means you don't see much if anything from them for quite some time, as it takes time to get high traffic or many hubs.

So many people come on here expecting to make moneystraight away, when I joined I said to myself, 'this isn't going to be easy' so I didn't look at my Adsense account until I'd written at least 50 hubs...The 50 hubs was a good start and I enjoy writing but after I'd been here 3-4 months I started researching hard about the ways you gain traffic and how to write interesting articles. By now I'd had a peak at my Adsense account and saw I'd earnt about £10-15 if I remember correctly, from then on it was more hard writing and researching until I was nearly at my adsense threshold..after that it gets easier! 9 months on!
Google Adsense is no get rich quick scheme, it is a job like any other

The best way is to start here on HubPages (with Amazon Affiliate and Google Adsense) on a trial basis for 2-3 months or so. Quality informative hubs, and a lot of hubs, are a must. The hub topic is also very important. For example, my hubs on earthquakes (selling survival kits on Amazon) did not work well, as I earned $1.50 in 8 months! On the contrary, hubs with demanding topics such as consumer electronics, cell phones, and gadgets will work very well. I earned $35 (Amazon) in 2 weeks from 4 hubs on such topics! I am not doing well with Google Adsense at this time!

Bottom line: you need to build at least 100 quality article and know how to promote them. This will definitely take time. For me, a quality article may take 15-20 hours to do a good research on the topic, and present it in a visually-appealing hub.

It's just like any other sales job. If you have a list of leads and a product that they are interested then of course you can make money right away. If you have nothing and don't even know where to start then chances are you are not going to make any money right away and that you're going to need to put some time and effort into things.

Hubpages is a great way to start out with affiliate products. The reason for this is that Hubs rank much higher and faster on search engines such as google vs. a brand new website does. However you do need to understand how you will be able to take advantage of that so you should invest a little bit of time learning about keywords and how to go about researching keywords.

You can make decent money via affiliate programs but it isn't a fire and forget sort of marketing. You have to correctly market the products and be sure that what you are selling ties in with your hubs. A couple of pages probably won't make you much money. A couple hundred on the other hand might, as long as you have well-written article that are informative.

Likely, your best chance is via Amazon.
