You can make money with Redbubble

Updated on August 5, 2012

Who are Redbubble?

So who are they and can you make money with Redbubble? The answer is yes but lets look into who Redbubble are and what they do!

Redbubble is a large community of supportive and friendly artists. What I love about this site is that they are truly focused on building a fun, safe and encouraging community and best of all they are also artists themselves. They have built a marketplace for artists and buyers alike, when you visit their home page you can jump straight in to browsing for prints or tshirts.

Their motto: Living art: Share it, Wear it, Hang it

OK so how do I make money

Well being an artist all you have to do is create and upload your work and Redbubble will look after the printing and shipping for you. They offer prints, cards, calendars, canvases and even t-shirts and stickers. Another new product that they also have are iphone cases which look very stylish. But like anything, you have to be able to get traffic/buyers to your page for this to work otherwise you will be hard to find with the thousands of other artists trying to also sell their work. To get some people watching you and giving feedback on your work it's good to find and watch other artist and give some constructive and nice comments about their work. You will find slowly you will start finding some like minded friends and really be a part of the Redbubble community.

A great thing about Redbubble is that it's completely free to join, they have never asked for a subscription fee and they do not place any ads on their site so for those who want to use Redbubble as a portfolio can.

Have you sold anything?

Yes I have sold a few calendars, a few greeting cards, some stickers and a tshirt so far so to me it says that a lot of buys frequently browse and buy from Redbubble. I have also purchased a calendar to look at he quality of the work and I can say that it's fantastic, I have been very pleased with this site.

Below you will find some links so you can see how the site looks and feels.

Do they pay you your commission?

Yes they do. I have already been paid 3 times. They do their payments automatically as well so you do not have to request payout. For me being in Australia I am able to have funds placed directly into my bank account when I reach the minimum of $20. So being paid 3 times I have made over $60 so far. It may seem a small amount but to me getting my photos sold and out there for peoples viewing pleasure is the most rewarding part of making sales :)

Thank you for reading and happy bubbling :)

Gamerelated: Thank you. I'm glad to help others find new avenues in which to make money. I do like Redbubble and it's the only place I've been successful in selling some things :)

Bridalletter: Thank you and you're most welcome. That is also a great idea to use Pinterest to your advantage like that to increase sales :)

Thank you for pointing out such a great site. I immediately checked it out, signed up and added a few images. I will add more work soon. They offer many products so it is a great opportunity. Looking forward to exploring RedBubble some more and their blog. I am going to make sure I pin mine on a new board on Pinterest to increase sales from that sight. Awesome!

Good work on this Hub. Thank you for sharing with us another avenue for earning money online. Many of the members here on HubPages are always looking to diversify and make money in other places.

      Hi Josh,

I'm glad this article has helped. What I will say is that I don't do a lot of advertising from my Redbubble, it mainly goes on Twitter when I post up a new print but I still make sales regardless. I don't make a lot because I don't put as much effort into it that I should probably but I have been the most successful here. So I'd say if your stuff is good and it's what people want I think if you advertise a little you will make some sales too :)

I would also say if you comment and fave other artists that you like it could help with making your work more popular and might end up on the front page :)

Thanks for the info on this site. I found out about it today and was looking for a good article on it, so thank you for that! One question, was it hard to get traffic to the site so that people could find your work? I have a lot of stuff to put on there that I think are quality work and could sell, but I am afraid it will never be found.

I enjoy RedBubble too. I rarely pop in there anymore though - thanks for this reminder to do just that! Good overview of RedBubble. Well done.
