Vicious GOP Assaults on American workers, women & Welfare (#14 - 20)

Updated on April 12, 2015

Continuing the Assault on America

Can the middle class withstand the continuing assaults by the GOP?

Maine Governor intent on making cheap child labor in this country to further the greed of his corporate cronies.

Are women's rights becoming a thing of the past?

Should women be forced back into the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant, in order to increase the Christian clans?

These are important issues all Americans should be asking themselves before we elect any more of the radicals into congress.

This is the last in my series of 14 (Now 20) Vicious Republican Attacks on America:

(#s !5 thru 20) , and still counting.

The idiocy just keeps on going......

Are Women really too dumb to think for themselves?

Legislative nonsense

#15 Florida adds insults to injuries. Or "If you can't say it, don't legislate it".

Today the Florida Republicans introduced 3 bills to the House:

  • SB 1748. denies women access to legal health care procedures.
  • SB 1744. forces women to undergo ultra sound prior to abortion even when medically unnecessary, inappropriate, or against the professional judgement of her physician.
  • SB 1770. makes it harder for a teenager to obtain a judicial bypass by lengthening the time a judge has, to determine whether a minor is sufficiently mature , by 3 weeks.

Florida legislators have banned the use of the word "uterus" from the house. (This is NOT a joke, folks). (see the video attached).

These are the cuts proposed by the Florida Republicans, introduced to the House.

  • $64,000,000.00 (million) would be cut from federal funds for clean and safe water in Florida. (This would allow businesses to dump their waste into water ways that pollute our aquifers)
  • {Since this article was written, the state of Florida has introduced a bill in Congress that would allow Florida to decide the fate of its water supplies. They say Florida is unique and should be regulated by the state, not the Federal Government, and this bill was passed!!} There is more than one way to skin a cat. Now the state of Florida has the right to allow as much pollution of its waters as corporate America wants without any recourse.
  • 6,100 Florida children would be immediately cut from Head Start, which provides comprehensive early childhood development services for at risk children ages 0 to 5.
  • $368,000,000.00 (million) would be cut from Pell Grants, affecting all 565,000 higher education students with those grants in Florida.
  • Job training and employment services would be effectively eliminated for 5,700 dislocated workers, 6,000 low income adults, and 15,000 youths ages 14 - 21 years of age.
  • $9,600,000.00 (million) would be cut from law enforcement assistance, taking cops off the beat.

Child slave labor returns to the state of Maine

#16. Maine brings back child slave labor.

The Republican Tea Party governor of Maine, Paul LePage is nuts. There is no other explanation for this:

  • Gov. LePage has signed legislature regarding child labor. The minimum wage in Maine is now $7.50/hr. The new law doesn't change that for adults, but for children the new minimum wage is now $5.25/hr. They will be allowed to work for this wage for 180 consecutive days only. Then the employer has the option to discharge the child, thus not having the need to increase the minimum wage to the normal amount. There is no longer any limit to the number of hours a child can work, and there is no over time pay. If the child works over 40 hours per week it will be at their minimum wage.
  • Gov LePage also ordered the removal of murals from the state house lobby, commissioned by local artists, that depict the the history of the labor movement in Maine. He either destroyed them or has them hidden somewhere unknown. Knowing this worm, i am sure he has had them destroyed. When asked by the people where the murals are, so they can be preserved, he refuses to tell anyone their whereabouts. He only states: " i had them removed, because i found them offensive." Needless to say, he is a business owner and not a politician. He got that position strictly by default. (see videos below).

Outrageous Political Idiocy

#17. Wisconsin (again).

Republican Sean Duffy stated at a public town hall meeting: "I'm struggling to make ends meet on my $174,000.00 annual salary." (This man is a former T.V. show "REAL WORLD" cast member and a Tea Party member - not a politician). How did these inept people get elected?

#18. Pennsylvania

Republican Congressman Tom Marino does not know that Libya is in Africa. He is on our Foreign Affairs Committee!!!

#19. Ohio

Republicans in Ohio just passed a bill that's even more radical than what Scott Walker is trying to do in Wisconsin.

Before the vote, the House Democrats delivered petitions from 65,414 Ohio residents who opposed the union busting bills.

House republicans refused to read those names into the official record, and ordered them removed from the House.

After the petitions were hauled out of the House, they voted on, and passed, their bill. They literally silenced 65,415 Ohio constituents, and they voted to strip away the rights of 350,000 teachers, firefighters, and other state employees. Every democrat in the legislature voted against this new republican assault on working families, but the republicans rammed it through anyway.

And when the Democrats tried to give a voice to working families in this debate, Republicans literally silenced them in the halls of the People' s House.

#20. More of Boehner's Boners

Quote from Speaker of the House Boehner to House Republicans:

"if we stick together and keep the pressure on the Democrats we're going to win this fight. We are gonna kick their ass."

Mr. Boner and his Tea Party Congress have made their demands clear:

  • Repeal health care reform,
  • dismantle Medicare,
  • slash education
  • and de-fund NPR/PBS,

or they will shut down the whole government. Are they really doing what the "majority" of the American people want? Or are all these assaults only beneficial to their bosses: Corporate America?

The top 10 GOP's Agenda for America:

1. Destroy 700,000 middle class jobs.

2. Zero out federal funding for NPR and public television (PBS)

3. Slash $1,300,000,000.00 (billion) from community health centers and eliminate funding for Planned parenthood.

4. Slash nearly a billion dollars in food and health care assistance to pregnant women, new moms, and children.

5. Slash support for Head Start, dropping 200,000 (thousand) vulnerable children from pre-school.

6. Slash support for education to states which will eliminate 65,000 teachers and aides and dramatically increase class size.

7. Slash financial aid for 9.4 million low and middle income college students.

8. Slash $1,600,000,000.00 (billion) from the National Institutes of Health, a cut that will send 'shock waves' through cancer research.

9. Eliminate $400,000,000.00 (million) in support to the U.S. Weather Service's early warning system for tsunamis, hurricanes and tornadoes.

10. Slash by 50% the number of veterans who get housing vouchers this year, which will increase homelessness among veterans by 10,000.

Note: These are excerpts and figures, mostly obtained from various sources including television news reports, democratic committee reports, republican committee reports, public records, planned parenthood, move on, and Internet searches, etc..

They do not reflect any of my personal 'opinions'
