Just and Righteous Protests

From Protesters to Rioters

The Death of one human being, George Floyd, has generated a worldwide series of protests over the cruel and illegal way he was killed, and by whom.

From the start, the filming of this callous disregard for another person’s life by a professional police officer left no doubt that this Black man was murdered in the most callous way.

And his being Black drove not only the Blacks but large numbers of other people from almost every city in America, to take to the streets and protest this blatant killing of a human being by a police officer.

The credo of these protesters was a simple one, at least from my perspective; Enough is Enough!

The Protests Got Out Of Hand

At first it was a case of the local Blacks and other supportive people marching in the streets and protested this callous murder of a Black man by 4 police officers.

That very first night started out with people exhibiting a calm resolve and it seemed that logic and justice would prevail as the protesters made their point to the world with their marches and speeches; and of course the news media quickly joined in and gave them the attention they deserved.

Everyone you heard from, regardless of their race wanted to not only see justice; they were also listening to the Black leaders who were using this death as an example of the ways so many Blacks are still treated unfairly around the world and specifically in America.

Everyone, and I truly believe that every one of us who watched this man die, was outraged.

How could any law-enforcement organization allow one of their peers to commit such a horrible act on another human being. And for this to happen in the public eye for everyone to see, projected such a callous disregard for human life that these so called police officers were obviously murderers, by any definition of the word.

That first night in Minneapolis, there were protesters, Black and White alike, who were standing up and demanding that the world take notice of their outrage.

But as the crowds grew and before anyone, specifically the local Blacks, could make their point to the world, the ensuing protests started turning violent.

As we watched the network coverage of the people’s protests, it was only a few hours before the orderly protests dissolved into chaos and random acts of destruction.

As the crowds broke the first windows, lit the first fires, and injured the first police officers who had been sent out to maintain some level of order, something different started happening.

There were strange people appearing among the local protesters who were acting much more violently than the locals.

Who were these “outsiders”?

Yes, these people were strangers, even to the local protesting Blacks. It later turned out that these strangers were trained professionals.

They were part of a small but organized group of people who quickly mixed in with the angry locals and were there to stir up the local crowds even more than they had been with their radical and destructive rhetoric.

It turned out that these outsiders were the leading vanguard of a band of professional Leftists whose sole purpose was to destroy, not build and foment hate, not generate solutions.

Their true goal was to use this man’s horrible death to sow destruction, violence, alienation and to tear down a piece of the American political system.

These people were well trained and they were the ones who handed the angry locals the bricks to throw.

They were the ones who handed them the soda bottles filled with gasoline and a simple cloth fuse to light, designed for throwing at police cars and the local storefronts.

They were the instigators of chaos whose purpose was to fan the flames of hate.

Were they just political protesters who let their emotions drive them to the disastrous extremes we all saw on our TV sets?

The answer is No! From what I have learned, these people have an agenda; and that is to use the misery and mistreatment of others to spread destruction and even death in the local neighborhoods of America.

Radicalized Extremists

It seems that something happened over those decades while my Wife and I were working our butts off and raising our three kids.

I can now see that over that period there has been a socio-political change that allows people to destroy our concept of an honorable protest being used as a tool for change. Now the norm is to blend into the protesters and use their philosophy of destruction, chaos and political attacks to push the limits of our nation’s laws.

The Rich Got Control of Politics.

I’m no historian, but it seems that while I wasn’t paying attention, our Congress chipped away at some of our laws and suddenly people who had control of vast fortunes, some with moneys in the billions of dollars; started “backing” certain politicians and other radicals, who believed as they did.

What do these “sponsored” radicals believe? Honestly, I don’t think it matters now, but so far they have been shown to be left-leaning moguls who were adept at donating enormous funds to groups that believed as they do.

But they also did something else.

They took control of these radical groups and funded, not just their lifestyles, but they paid for them to be educated in what I call the “New Art of the Riot”.

They understood that it wasn’t enough to support the existing liberal politicians, so they took the next step and that was to direct these radicalized leftist groups of trained insurgents to travel to sites of protest and blend in with the local people who started out as good and peaceful protesters.

Once they were able to blend into the crowds they took the next step; these Leftists started implementing waves of planned destruction.

They were the first ones throwing bricks, they were the first ones breaking the store windows and burning the cars. They were even the ones pushing the crowds into killing the local police.

But that wasn’t enough. Once they saw that there was limited to no physical reaction to their rioting and destruction, they are now taking the next step towards their form of change.

Have you noticed that each day, the protesters start to assemble in the streets they do so quietly and usually they even seemingly exhibit respect for the police standing before them.

But as day turned into night, and visibility is limited these trained “terrorists ???” show up and blend with the local protesters as then begin training them, right on the streets, in the art of rioting.

They showed them how to make Molotov cocktails, they showed them how to throw bricks and break certain windows. they even showed them how to burn the local business’ to the ground, usually the very ones that the protestors frequented when they shopped by the way.

But I saw something new with this wave of protests. It was the fact that the local protesters saw what was happening and even began chastising these radical interlopers as they were the ones destroying the neighborhood’s essential services and business’.

I just wonder what the big money Leftists will do now, as they have become more visible to not only the protesters but the American public? What will be their next step in their goal of destroying our Democracy with their Fat Cat money?

Business’ are being burned every night; Statues are being torn down, and once hard working citizens are now out of jobs.

I wonder though! Who remembers the atrocity of the death of George Floyd as they watch their TV each night? Who remembers the reason for the original protests?

Nuff Said!

Linda - I agree with you that some of my statements are going to upset some people, but I want our nation to get back to the point that we can have different opinions yet still work together for a common good. Rioters are bad for our nation regardless of what their destructive reasoning, and they must be stopped. I just hope the chaos doesn't hurt the common cause of equality for all in our nation.

Have a Great Day, my friend!

JOC - That is one of the things I was trying to say; we need to not have two sides, but two opinions and an agreement to work together and make things better, one step at a time.

Thanks for your common sense response.

Don, I have enjoyed your writing on Hubpages for years now but am so disappointed to hear your response. You are buying into Trump's bullshit! I still respect your writing my friend. Let's keep politics out of our Hubpages friendship.

You can support police and be against police brutality. You can support peaceful protesters and be against rioters. You can be on both sides of both of these issues.

Linda - I see your point and I wish it were that simple anymore to see and condemn a certain group of people for these terrible acts. But, honestly, even the press, the left-lening press by the way are beginning to call the more violent rioters as being "leftist".

Once, it was more simple for us; we could say we were Democrats or we were Republicans. But today, the smalller more organized an funded groups re what we see burning stores an injuring, even killing our police forces.

This is not right, and even though my hardcore Democrat friends admit such acts are wrong, they still stand back and watch the chaos rather than take a stand.

But, I hope you have a Good day and things come together at some point, and soon!

Hi Don-I agree that these radicals are riff raff of society that found an opportunity to show their anger during a time of social unrest and shame on them for that. My sister's kids and friends went to many peaceful protests to show their support for the sickening death of George Floyd. Please be careful about labeling the violent people as leftist's groups. I wish it were that easy to label a group of opportunist's but it isn't that simple. Trump is the one that made up this leftist thing & as a good person & Democrat, is angers me that people believe his narrative. Let us all get along & stand up for justice. Thanks for the article Don.

Eric - Thanks! I wanted to stir up some level of righteous indignation and possibly even cooperation; but so far, it seems complacency and finger pointing is all I have seen.

MizBejabbers - I am wounded that you might think of me as a "Conspiracy Theorist". Well, No, I have a thick skin and one of the first tricks to use is to change the subject if you can to something you can defend.

My article was not designed to rattle cages, but instead it was intended point out to my fellow Americans that what was at one time a movement is now being redirected into needless destruction.

I mean, really. How does killing a Cop, or pulling down a statue get people together to discuss solutions?

A well done piece. And I think one that most Americans are starting to grasp.

Don, there are all kinds of conspiracy theorists out there, most of whom are just nuts, but the rest are people who like to point fingers at any other American who does not agree with their political philosophies. So I'll come up with another one. The Russians are hacking us and they are exerting their influence in any way they can to try to bring this country down from within. Anytime you point your finger at a fellow American and say "it's your fault" you are aiding them. I'm sure they are lifting their vodka and saying "we just suckered another fool."

I believe "RADICALIZED LEFTIST GROUPS OF TRAINED INSURGENTS to travel to sites of protest and blend in with the local people who started out as good and peaceful protesters" were your words. Perhaps I took them out of context and, if I did, I apologize. I don't disagree with everything you said and am willing to give you the benefit of doubt as I kind of like your goatee. LOL. I'm 67 years old Don, and firmly believe in the saying "when you're young if you're not liberal you have no heart and when you're old if you're not conservative you have no brain". You are completely correct about the bad actors that give peaceful protesters a bad rap, I just can't buy that they might be trained by some weird leftist brick throwing and garbage can fires group. That sounds too much like a really weak version of the Boogaloo Boys. Regardless, it is a good article and I read it all the way through. We may have our differences but it seems, at least. we are willing to have a conversation about them. I thank you for answering and you have a good one as well.

Strange! I never used the word ANTIFA! Yet, you immediately jump on my words and reject them as being copied from some ridiculous source?

NO, I am educated in world affairs, and I can sift through the radical leftist press and their lies as easily as i can those of the right. Lies my friend, are lies, and your short diatribe says nothing of value to anyone who can sort facts from lies.

      Have a Goo Day!

No offence, but if you're going to use information gleaned from America Out Loud, you should probably credit that site for the basis of your information. Here is a statement from the America Out Loud site that bears a striking resemblance to your article, copied and pasted verbatim: "Now for the ‘critical point’ that makes them (Antifa) different from the protections, support, and advocacy that the Democrats and the political far-left condone and the mainstream media justifies and is sympathetic to. Antifa, has considerable long-term ties to various international terrorist organizations, and most importantly they have had a presence in the Syrian Civil War as a violent radical extremist group, and in turn gained combat experience in Syria." This entire statement has been rated FALSE by Snopes, a reliable and truthful fact checking site. Here is a statement from Snopes on the existence and outlying REAL positions of ANTIFA. "There are Antifa groups around the world, but Antifa is not itself an interconnected organization, any more than an ideology like socialism or a tactic like the picket line is a specific group. Antifa are autonomous anti-racist groups that monitor and track the activities of local neo-Nazis. They expose them to their neighbors and employers, they conduct public education campaigns, they support migrants and refugees and they pressure venues to cancel white power events."

"The vast majority of anti-fascist organizing is nonviolent. But their willingness to physically defend themselves and others from white supremacist violence and preemptively shut down fascist organizing efforts before they turn deadly distinguishes them from liberal anti-racists.

The First Amendment "guarantees freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition. It forbids Congress from both promoting one religion over others and also restricting an individual’s religious practices", I suggest the majority of rioters and looters you see at these protests are, merely. individual opportunists who see a chance to use the situation to grab a new Television. There's no organization, no pre-planning and no far-fetched conspiracy theory. Just a bunch of thieves taking advantage of an opportunistic situation.

Let's not pretend it's anything more than that.
