When a person has all they need...

When a person has everything they need, does this bore them, or turn them into philanthropists? What would you do? This Hub is answer to this question asked by Edlira on HubPages 02/27/2011.

Have everything you need?

If I felt that I had everything I need, what would I...

The very first thing that popped into my head, and heart was; then I would be able to find more ways to help others who do not have enough.

Boredom is not a problem ever. I can always entertain myself. Sometimes I exhibit tendencies of ADD. Sweetsusieg first published the "shiny things" problem, I am in complete agreement.

We only have a certain allotment of seconds and minutes in each day. Mine is probably an odd-ball opinion, but I do not think, human beings going faster is the solution to humankind's destiny. Are we so desperate to go faster, that we are mashing atoms? Slowing down, and caring for our local areas is a wise course to consider.

For those who feel they have everything they need, to keep from get bored, they can cure that boredom by getting involved with helping to spread resources to others. The community, neighbors, the Village. .

There were times I did not think I had everything I needed...

There were sure times, I did not think I had everything I needed.

The kicker is I survived. Making it to five decades, made me realize I did get what I needed every day I witnessed another Sunrise, or Afternoon sounds. Each day that I wake up and have a roof over my head, a warm bed to sleep in, food to eat, am healthy, can see, hear, walk - I count it all as bonus.

I am heavily influenced by some of the Rolling Stones songs, Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, has crooned for decades, "You may not always get what you want, but you always get what you need. " (I think that is mostly true). I sang it until I believe it.

You can't always get what you want, The Rolling Stones

shoe the children with no the people living in the streets

Fly Like an Eagle, feed the babies that don't have enough to eat...

Is it odd that generally people with lower incomes, poorer communities and even States (in N. America) who struggle often are the first to reach out and help someone else, or a cause that is struggling. Those who have had to host, hostess, or serve food and/or alcohol, are the better tippers.

If a person owns a decent small business, they often pay their employees better than the big outlets?

Philanthropists are the ultra wealthy who use their freedom to develop in other aspects of society, by helping those less fortunate. The many who do not have everything they need. The Administrative Assistant that has one child, and takes home enough from her much deducted paycheck, to feed her child, but not her all the time. In the land of Plenty, Gracious Skies and Majesties, there are many people going hungry. There are not enough resources Good Question thanks for asking Edira "How would you feel if you had everything you needed?

Lilly my dear friend, it's amazing when we come to the realization that we already have everything we need... When we have life, then we can build all we need.

Lilly, it is a learned habit! Children learn it from their parents. Kids now a days want what they want and want it NOW! and the parents bow down to this. This is where these greedy adults come from!

My own adult kids, buy what they want not what they need. Many timed letting a bill go! This is what their children are learning.

I have to admit, there are things I want but I do not need and do with out.

People need to get their priorities straight!

Sorry This is a rant for me too

      peace chicken grease

Lilly, You mirror my soul! and Mick Jagger is one of my favorites. The homeless in America and around the world is a crime of greed by people who have it all and want more and more.

Lilly, you always pick the right topics and make great hubs on those topics! How easy life would be if we all could be a little more content with what we have. As you say, there are others who have less. And our globe would benefit from it also! Up and awesome!

Dear Ms. Bobbi, it would be dishonest to not admit that this past few years have been a struggle, with many disappointments and sorrow. One bad day away say that I have not cried, worked myself into a Migraine of the century, but it is because of the paths I chose Not. I the Strong one has had to learn to lean on others. This is why writing is so therapeutic. Although there has been anguish, tears, brief temptations of suicide, the sexless, moneyless moments, and they are what really sell, but it is coming to a conclusion upon closing...thinking of those around the Globe, in Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, South Dakota, in Alabama, New York, Detroit, there is 3rd world poverty. Our Globe has been stripped of most of her Glory to be made into an oil producing desert, because Humans are not content to go slow. We are losing species, habitat, ocean, pollinators...Considering all things, I am blessed. What I want, is to help others, and do not have enough to help others who are in much worse poverty. Now you got me rantin' Ms Bobbi. Love your work, and words. Thank you.

Great hub. It's rare when a person feels content with what they have and not feel like they are running through life missing something. Great take on being content.
