Ferguson: The Real Problem?
Ferguson: The Real Problem
"The evidence doesn't matter." This is what many Ferguson protesters believe. Let me add on to that; "The evidence doesn't matter. An unarmed teen was shot dead by a police officer." If this doesn't change your perspective you are not a racist, or a bigot, or privileged. You don't have to be black or brown to understand that this is wrong you simply have to possess empathy.
The biggest wrong any American, or person can do is decide for themselves that this is none of their business. This is the exact attitude that results in the lack of voting. And it is events such as Ferguson that fuel the disinterest of those lacking the impetus to vote.
Our President is black. So, what? This event comes to show that the President can be black, brown or orange. Congress and the law are the factors that decide Americans' fate. We still follow parts of an amendment that were written in 1789. If you have been that opinionated political nerd talking down Obama's progress, you are probably ignorant to how the system actually works. It is high school behind those closed doors. Both in government and legislation.
So, before you ignore the problem see if you have any humanity left. What sets America apart from third world countries trudging through the lost lives of their wars is we have the ability to NOTICE. And therefore react. Others would only be so lucky if the name of their child or parent who was shot down in Palestine received world wide coverage. We are ALL the privileged ones. Not just white Americans. This officer wasn't indicted because the law allowed him to get away, no matter how strongly those jurors knew this was wrong.
Change the rules of the game congress.
Aka; Don't hate the player hate the game.
