Shoot From the LIP - Not From the HIP...

Updated on April 27, 2013
Words Slice and Dice Too...
Words Slice and Dice Too...

Words are sharp and clear, can slice and dice through crap,

Plus ammunition's free for all - any time one snaps!

Both parties see a new dawn - and perhaps a point of view,

Had a gun been within range - both could very well be screwed!

Momentary madness is Man's downfall more than twice,

Too crazed to contemplate that ALL will pay the price.

One left dead and rotting, ones future prospects SHOT,

With endless years in prison contemplating had he NOT!

Use Your Thumb, Not Your Gun
Use Your Thumb, Not Your Gun

What's happened to 'humanity' - no trace of self-control,

More interested in ego than nourishing the soul!

Opinions are like ass-holes - there's one for everybody,

Seems today we disagree - you've a RIGHT to leave me bloody!

So please beware the 'Kool-aid' - glance down to view yon Thumb,

Meant to soar amongst the stars - yet so willing to succumb.

Why swallow the rhetoric - search past 'Me, Myself, and I',

Do you really need that Uzi? Can't you hear those children cry?

Let's TALK about the here and now, self-defense is naught a crime,

But an AK 47? There's no reason and no rhyme!

Hunting is for Sportsmen - why not just drop The Bomb?

Forfeit flesh for steel - AND - don't forget to quote a Psalm!

Just Sayin'...

@Pagesvoice: Hmmmm...interesting topic you bring up here - that of discipline, respect - and just a wee touch of fear for consequences - NOT a bad thing in my estimation! interestingly the poem i wrote yesterday - 'he loves her, she loves him not...' was originally going to be about consequences for actions..

andrew was always getting punished - including the strap! I remember sitting at my desk watching as he got strapped and thinking - omfg - that is NEVER going to be me!..

ya know what i'm saying, i know...

@Wayno: I, like you, my friend - do not understand the mentality - or lack thereof..

Obviously i agree with your main points - the ease with which people seem to be reaching for guns - instead of reaching agreements - if only to disagree..

blows my mind - and possibly my brains out - it IS a wild wild west free for all - and YES - the so-called NRA big boys and the politicians they own dont give a flying you-know-what about spilled blood, or 250 years of firearm technology..

On the other hand, my friend - the nano-second you call 'Americans 'weakass' - they stop listening to your intelligent arguments - and just get pissed..

      ya know?

      love yaxx

I should have clarified about "the kids" because I really don't know whether the girls had rifles or not. Maybe back in the Dark Ages it was a boy thing to own a shotgun...who really knows for sure? What I do know is we were all responsible and our parents made it abundantly clear that owning a gun was a privilege that could be taken away at a moments notice. You see, back then our moms and dads weren't our chummy buddies like so many want to be today. NOPE. We had what I like to call a "healthy respect" for authority figures. We didn't question nor did we DARE to test their metal. We knew that there were consequences for our actions and we best act responsibly.

I'm sickened deeply by what has been going on in our culture of late. Where did we lose our way? When did the constant tribal drumbeat of death and assassination infect the minds of this new generation? I'm lost, like so many others, in a never ending sea of mass murders and tragedies. The issue of guns is one perpetrated by the gun industry and they have proven their expertise in setting a stage of division in the minds of many. Shoot (no pun intended) I've had my own family members, whom I love dearly, take me to task for my position regarding guns.

As I mentioned previously, the landscape has changed and it hasn't been for the betterment of humankind.

I KNOW you weren't an only child...tsk, tsk...

it's hard for me to wrap my canadian mind around the fact that every kid had a gun, and - that was normal...WOW..

You'd think that with MORE people and MORE crowding - the size of gun necessary to hit one's target would get smaller - NOT bigger..

      what do i know - i'm just a dumb, nosy canuck...LOL..

ps..i already know where the nra prostitutes get stroked, fed, and laid - AND who they in turn stroke, feed, and FUCK!

      Grrrrrrrr....that doesn't mean i'm not all over your link...xx

Voted up, awesome, interesting and useful, plus shared with all. Hey...that's 2 of your articles I've shared with all today.

You have your own unique way to hammer home a message on critical issues you strongly believe in and you certainly didn't disappoint with this one either. Some people have their heads stuck so far up their selfish, egotistical arses that they will never see daylight.

I was speaking to someone in my peer group about how every kid we knew when we were children owned a rifle. We would go target shooting and some hunted small game. Never did we hear of anyone discussing shooting people. Of course, we only had shotguns or .22 caliber rifles. Now things have changed. It seems as though the landscape and mindset of many has been altered with the onslaught of assault style weapons.

If you read the attached link, you will see how the NRA and gun manufacturers don't give a rat's behind about law enforcement and safety. Due to Governor Cuomo enacting some common sense gun laws, focusing on assault weapons, the gun manufacturers are refusing to sell these weapons to New York State police departments. Well isn't that nice.

I love that you and i can stand on opposite sides when it comes to...certain issues - and yet- we can both still appreciate the other as individuals - and respect each others writing..

it truly gives me hope for mankind - as simple a thing as it may seem - it isn't..

If only the human race would endeavor to use words (and a sharp wit) rather than weapons that kill or maim. Besides, when one employs vocabulary to get a point across, he or she survives and has the chance to do it again...and again...and again. When a gun is used, there are no more chances--for either person.

      Leslie, you're a genius!

Great one... There are way too many times that I am left shaking my head thinking "What is wrong with people?!" Why on earth would anybody ever think it is ok to shoot another person. WTF?!... As for words. Oh boy do I know how they hurt. I have thrown some daggers, heck a few atomic bombs. I have since tried to stop and think beofre I speak and hurt. Still working on that one.... Do you think the rest of humanity will ever learn that one?
