Kevlar for Kiddies: The Fashion Trend Children Are DYING For..

Bulletproof and Fashion Savvy..

THREE Feet Tall and Bulletproof?

Kevlar for Kiddies: V-Bags, Puffer Kids, T-Shirt Kids, and The Safety Vest...

Say hello to a whole new fashion line and lingo - inspired by folks being mowed down en mass across the Great and 'FREE' country of The United States of America!

This is what the 'Proud and Free' United States of America has become: Terrified parents scrambling to get their hands on the latest 'Post-Newton' fashion craze: Bulletproof shirts, pants, vests, and backpacks - perfect for little Johnny and little Suzie - both for school AND for play!

Fashion for the happy and hopefully LIVELY child - doncha know!

God Bless America...

SO - God Bless America - as the NRA decrees that MORE guns are the answer - and now pledge to take their "Commitment and meaningful contributions" (READ: money and influence) to the members of Congress - in order to further their agenda and strike fear into the hearts of government and people BOTH...

SO - God Bless America - as they now arm TEACHERS in a misguided attempt to stem the flow of blood...

SO - God Bless America - as the gun-toting 'extremists within' foam at the mouth and threaten what? Oh yes - MORE GUN VIOLENCE!

Civil War, in fact...

Language Warning...

Bulletproof Backpacks...
Bulletproof Backpacks...

Bulletproof Your Babies - It's Your 'RIGHT'..

With twenty years of experience in designing military-grade bulletproof garments - Colombian designer Miguel Cabellaro has very recently expanded into the kiddie market - geared specifically towards American school children - and inspired by the upswing in mass murders - most recently - Sandy Hook!

The products are designed for children ages eight through sixteen - and cost between $150 and $600 per piece - depending on the complexity of their construction. Each piece weighs 2-4 pounds.

Yes, kevlar kiddie wear - and, already, he can't keep up with the flood of orders coming from every corner of the United States!

Dodge Bullets - Not Balls..
Dodge Bullets - Not Balls..

IF, for some unfathomable reason, you should take issue with this article - which is your First Amendment Right, of course - might I suggest you not waste precious energy on the following statements - as the author definitely won't be wasting her energy replying to them. Again.

"Saying the 2nd Amendment doesn't apply to modern firearms is like saying the 1st Amendment doesn't apply to the Internet and cell phones."

You can't point, shoot, and MASS MURDER with the Internet OR a cell phone!

"We need to defend ourselves for when that time comes that our government turns on us."

This one actually causes me to giggle, I must be honest! HELLO? There IS no defense against your government should it choose - for some unimaginable reason - to turn on you! Wake up and stop smelling the gunpowder - OR POWER!

It's NOT 1776, and today - in modern times - the Government's muskets are WAAAAAY bigger than yours! In other words: Bang, bang - you're DEAD!

"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun - is a good guy with a gun..."

Ok, let's go with that already-proven-incorrect and in my humble opinion - ASININE premise - for just one more wasted nano-second...

If true, one would imagine that the nearly 300,000,000 guns ALREADY floating around the country - HALF of the entire planets guns, by the way - might have already done the trick?

The TRUE truth is exactly the opposite - the good guys aren't winning! If they were - the Parents of America wouldn't be in a frantic panic to bulletproof the Children of America - Against the Guns of America!

"If they try to take our guns away, blood will be running in the streets..."

Have you bothered to take a look outside your window lately? Or....can you not see past the end of the barrel of your gun? Blood is ALREADY running in the streets!

I'm guessing you mean MORE blood? Excellent idea!

Kevlar for Kiddies...

Yea or Nay?

If there were an official opinon poll - would you be 'for' or 'against' gun regulations for automatic weapons and the ammunition that makes them lethal?

See results

In Closing - A Riddle...

In closing I offer a little riddle: What's the differrnce between a 1776 one-shot flintlock Musket and a 2013 fully automatic AK 47?

Answer: According to the NRA and the extremists within? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

I'm thinking we should start teaching the kiddies how to 'dodge' bullets - instead of balls.

They're starting to really annoy the gun fanatics by continuing to get in the way of their precious 2nd Amendment BULLETS!

You really nailed this one...once again. Kevlar for Kiddies is a great title. And the title picture...priceless. What's next? Armored personnel carriers instead of school buses? You even had me chuckling a few times as well. I do adore how your rational yet twisted mind works.

Again she is right on target, so to speak. Great rebuttals Leslie!

Tucson AZ, this week, second anniversary of the nutcase killing that nearly killed her and did murder six people. The police had a gun buyback, a fifty dollar grocery store voucher for your guns. 206 weapons were turned in, and are to be destroyed, but, guess what... the NRA objects and says that it would violate Arizona law to destroy the weapons and they should be turned over to gun merchants for resale. Last I heard, the police were destroying the guns. This buyback program, by the way, was instigated by a Repulican city councilman. Kudos for this brave man.

the basic thing here in my humble mind. Yes guns especially assault weapons are awful.. However what has caused people to do these horrid crimes...computer games, internet predators and so much more. The problems is huge and it doesn't look like it is getting better any time soon. Kevlar for kiddies..Amazing as you are.

Why am I even surprised that they are now selling Kevlar for kids? It's the next natural step, is it not? And amazingly it is a hot item!

Listen, I have no problem with the 2nd Amendment...I love the Constitution....and I am willing to listen to anyone try to tell me that assault weapons are needed by private citizens. I really want to hear a reason that is logical and not fueled by paranoia.

Leslie, you go, girl! I'm with you all the way.

Now let's sit back and ready ourselves for the nasties!

Leslie - This is the news in my neck of the woods:

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo proposed “the toughest assault weapons ban in the nation” in his State of the State address Wednesday afternoon – a response to the mass shootings in Aurora, Colo., and Newtown, Conn., and the shooting deaths of firefighters in upstate New York.

“This is not about taking away peoples’ guns,” said Cuomo, adding that he’s gone hunting and owns a shotgun. “It is about ending the unnecessary risk of high-capacity assault rifles.”

      "We must stop the madness."

“This is not about taking away peoples’ guns,” said Cuomo, adding that he’s gone hunting and owns a shotgun. “It is about ending the unnecessary risk of high-capacity assault rifles.”

      -----

First the most innocent of innocent victims and now people dedicating their lives to helping others.

We recently lost 2 firemen rushing to a pre-set fire. The resident deliberately set the fire and laid in wait for help to arrive. Two fireman were rushed to the hospital while 2 died.

Thank you for posting this hub.

My respect for your resolve grows larger every day.

      Keep fighting the good fight.

Apparently I can't even go to sleep without missing a new Hub from you... and this is really a doozie. Kevlar for Kiddies... wish I'd thought of that, it certainly is becoming necessary.

It boggles the mind that anyone can find anything wrong with a ban on Assault weapons... and multi bullet clips. Someone mentioned to me elsewhere that a ban on assault weapons would ban all 'rapid fire' no reload necessary weapons... I don't know if that is true... but? We need these rapid fire weapons to kill those damm deer because... we can't kill them fast enough by aiming and shooting? Nothing so sportsman like as that. I'll tell you what, I am willing to give up my dishwasher or washing machine or electric fry pan... and do it the old fashioned way... if you tell your NRA that you are OK with this ban... You can defend yourself with a rifle or revolver.

P.S. Leslie ...the last picture 'Founding Fathers Foresight' is missing from your Hub.

Another great one... voted up and sharing.

I would bet that a lot of the bulliers come from families who tout their right to own assault rifles.

There you have a BIG underlying issue....Bullies. Can we talk about that?

If anyone saw the Clint Eastwood movie, Gran Torino---you would see the reality of join us or die.

These gangs all have guns, and geuss what it means? Intimidation.

      Power. Life or death.

When other lives mean nothing--I guess it's OK.

But that teacher talked the kid down....it was PAIN. Excruciating PAIN. Can we talk about that????

Bullies. Everywhere. When you feel you have no recourse from them.....a gun is the only out.

The "Wild West" mentality in the U.S. is one of the biggest problems we have, compounded by the NRA with its lobbying dollars. I'm all for gun control, especially to ban rapid-fire assault weapons. Anyone who doesn't support this ban is essentially saying that every American should be free to kill as many other humans as possible within minutes! That's just plain crazy, and don't spout the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in defense. That amendment is constantly misinterpreted by gun proponents. There is no defense for gun dealers being able to sell these weapons, the only purpose of which is mass slaughter, and I no longer give a damn who gets mad at my opinion! I'm sick of innocents being killed all over this country, while other more civilized countries experience much less homicide and violence caused by guns.

As for kids wearing Kevlar, I find it hard to believe that normal children will wear a "two-to-four-pound" garment (or more than one) all through a school day even if their parents purchase these items. They will be too uncomfortable, and kids aren't willing to put up with discomfort, especially when the weather gets warm (and public schools aren't known for perfect climate control in their buildings). After the kids get out of sight of their parents, they will remove the Kevlar and stuff it in their backpacks. End of protection against gun-toting crazies!

Great hub! I admire your courage. Voted Up+++

Leslie, you are amazing. Where on earth did you dig up this Kevlar stuff? Isn't it sad that a country that calls itself the country of opportunity and individual freedom has evolved to the point where little kids have to be raised in fear of their own government? With each passing day I am more and more satisfied with my decision not to bring children into this world.

Home-schooling is growing by leaps and bounds. If I were a young mother now, that would be my choice. However, we've seen that any public place may attract someone with an assault weapon and the insane desire to achieve notoriety in a hail of bullets.

If this horrible trend of gun violence and mass murder continues in the U.S., it shouldn't be surprising if we see increased migration as people who can afford to do so leave this country in search of less violence. That means the more peaceful people will be leaving and the gun proponents staying. That scenario is scary enough to produce nightmares! We can only hope that our lawmakers develop the courage to resist the NRA and enact stringent gun control laws, particularly a ban on assault weapons. No one other than military and police SWAT teams should be able to get their hands on these guns, and even they should undergo mental health evaluations before doing so!

At the risk of upsetting angry Americans (with guns), I am very much for gun regulations as we have in place here in Australia. It's not a guarantee, but it all helps. I have to laugh at the idea that a gun will protect you, so if a gangster pulls a gun on you, you'll just rush off to the desk drawer, get the key to the gun cabinet, grab your rifle, go get the ammunition kept in a different drawer, load it... oh wait, you're already dead. Best to sit on the porch, gun loaded and ready to go.

We had similar reactions when unregistered guns were given an amnesty to hand them in. But things settle.

Interestingly, Google decided an appropriate advert for this post was for Firearm training in Queensland 'protect your shooting sports-get your firearms licence!'.

Thanks for being brave and posting the truth.

@Ahorseback: Cowboy - no reality check needed here, sir! I am well aware there are many things that need 'focusing' on - but gun control is definitely ONE of them!

Let's face it, we're not going to be taking any viable steps in the mental health area TODAY that's going to change anything tomorrow, and we're not getting daddies back in the homes - TODAY- and we're not going to re-direct the attention of a wayward culture...

What we can do is regulate the 'big guns' that can take out 30 human beings in as many SECONDS!!!!

Maybe that will keep the guns out of crazy people's hands and stem the flow of blood - TODAY - and then we can go about what you mention!(any idees on how, btw?...)

BTW, i have a HUGE problem with selling a gun a supposedly 'mentally healthy' guy today - and tomorrow - he's a whack job with an agenda and BIG HOARKING GUN!

I've heard from people in australia AND in england - and i live in canada - all 3 countries have gun control in place - and guess what? NOBODY'S CRYING about losing their guns! In canada for instance we have the same number of guns per capita as you do - and i don't think we have any less mental health issues or any more daddies in the home!

All 3 first world countries are very happy with their gun laws - and please - don't talk to me about 'other' violent crimes! A knife can't take out SEVENTY people (even if ONLY 12 died) in a matter of minutes!

This argument is a waste of time and breath..

From where i stand - you're killing YOURSELVES - and 75% of your very own population is FOR regulation..

The NRA decided it was a GREAT DAY to release an iphone SHOOTING APP - today - on the 1 month anniversary of Newtown..

WOW - come now - even the hardest of gun advocates have to have a heart somewhere? Don't they???

      (i AM asking...i DON'T see it...

THE WHOLE WORLD has mental health issues and a lack of a father figure - if not BOTH - and everyone's culture is f****ed!

What isn't the same - is the number of MURDERS FROM GUNS! In that arena - the united states stands alone- and AGAIN - the same number of violent video games - and the same number of violent movies! The difference is that your unstable citizens can carry - and USE oozies!

Come now - let's start where we can- and the paranoia that obama is going to take all the guns???

Frankly - it STINKS of racism...

with respect and in friendship - as always, Ed...

Okay, after reading the hub and all comments it is perfectly obvious to me that it is time for you to run for office. I can't imagine what politicians with do with such a straight "shooters".

Instead of running their mouths and hiding behind the money, it's time to listen to the people of which you are a great representative.. ...can we at least get you a job with the Associated Press?

Voted up, useful, awesome, and interesting.. . Needs a 'powerful'button.

I remember the days of having civil defense drills in my school in case of nuclear attack. As if hiding under my wooden desk would have really helped. lol.

I know they have "lock-down" drills now, as well as others. That's good to know and a great idea. We can never be too safe...or prepared.

I would add they can go where there are no taxes, instead of soaking the Amerian people for their money, and keeping their money elsewhere!

It all goes together.....no respect for life, no desire to improve conditions for all, just ME ME ME ME ME!

Your last line reminded me of this......what we used to think of on a daily basis...

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."--Jimi Hendrix

funny--he was waterboarded with his own wine..."allegedly"...Golly--wonder who would do that??? (Lennon, MLK, Kennedy, Kennedy....)

Yes--1980. The year of Doom. And growing ever since.

But--we do have a chance now....the ideals are still there. Just need the powers that be to have them...

I see it more now. The fear of expressing it is leaving.

      "God don't make no junk!".....

Think about it......they have told "some of us" we are junk for 30+ years....while they steal all the wealth!

"You are not worthy"...well---YOU are, those who worship us...those others don't deserve a penny of their own tax dollars.....but YOU do!

...just keep supporting us, you hear? Someday--you will have it all too.......The Dream. Wake Up...it's a nightmare!

      OMG! This is insane!

I am not against people having and usung guns, even recreationally. I would love to learn to tartget shoot. I know plenty of people that hunt. I am for gun control. To save us from the dumb folks and the crazy folks. Just like we have seatbelt laws otherwise no one would wear them.

No matter what side of the gun issue you are on, just the thought of bulletproofing kids items is digusting! How did we get to this point? Even if everyone in America had ten guns (something I certainly hope will never be true) there should never ever be a reason to think a child could be shot! Something needs to be done about the reasons these guns are being used to hurt kids - mental health awareness, access to menal health, better security in schools. Where is the focus on that?

What a sad state this country has come to. :(

From my experience, spirit speaks not in your mind, but your body. "Gut", "Intuition"....

"He could see that her will was sleeping, and that he had to wake up her stomach."

God knowledge is bodily knowledge....not mind. Not intellect, but tears!

      IMO only.

@DanaTeresa: Welll...didn't you hit the bullseye! IT IS INSANE - and - this insanity? OWNS GUNS!

They discount the life, liberty, and happiness RIGHT - to protect their GUNS????

The majority of the population is afriad to leave their houses - but - that's okie dokie for the ak47 owners and lovers..THEY LOVE intimidation and a sense of power...(emphasis on 'sense'...)

Thanks for stepping into the muck..or - should i amend that to 'blood'?

Very interesting! I never knew that such protection or fashion was ever made. Due to school shootings, I don't blame trying to protect your children. It's awful that we live in such a world, but this is today's world. If it protects my children, I would buy it. Voted up, useful, awesome, interesting, and shared.
