Imran Khan! "A Man With A Plan"

Updated on September 20, 2019

Introduction

I originally wanted to entitle this article as ‘My name is Imran Khan & I am not a terrorist’. But that would not do justice to the message he had conveyed in his victory speech after the general elections 2018 in Pakistan. This article is all about portraying the message of Peace & Prosperity in the region by Mr Imran Khan in his speech last night. Here I would like to tell about my perspective as well. Neither am I a political person and nor a journalist as well to debate at the technicalities of the motive of Mr Khan’s speech. I am just an ordinary Pakistani who has never written anything political in life to either promote or negate. The politics have nothing to do with me. But after listening to his speech yesterday it compelled me to pick up the pen and write, in technical terms pick up the laptop and type this article. So my intentions are neither the fame nor the defaming anyone or any political party or agenda of my country via this piece of writing. The only reason is just to portray Mr Imran Khan’s perspective in his speech at the international forum as I have comprehended in my novice political mind for now.

Let me begin here that by the time this article is going to be published Mr Imran Khan will be declared as the elected Prime Minister of Pakistan for the next five years i-e, 2018-23. His party the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf has been declared as the ruling elected party in the mandate by the Pakistanis in the general elections 2018. Imran Khan after the struggle of 22 years has succeeded in the political mission that he started in 1996. He is the cricketer by profession prior to his political career.

Background of Imran Khan:

Imran Khan is the cricketer come philanthropist come, politician, born on 5th October 1952 to a Pashtun family in Lahore. He has studied at different international institutions and has been a graduate of Oxford University, England. He started playing cricket at the age of 13 and remained associated to cricket ever since till 1992 as a renowned all-rounder and the most influential captain of Pakistan Cricket team from 1982-92. Under his captaincy, Pakistan has won numerous series, championships and the World Cup in 1992. It was then he declared his retirement from the International Cricket and to be a Philanthropist to inaugurate the construction of a renowned cancer hospital ‘Shaukat Khanam Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre’, in 1991. The hospital started functioning in December 1994 & soon ranked among the top 'Cancer Hospitals' around the world.

Imran Khan founded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf political party in April 1996 and became the party's national leader. He participated in the general elections of Pakistan for the first time in October 2002 and elected as an opposition member from Mianwali until 2007. In the 2013 elections, his party emerged as the second largest in the country by popular vote. His party then formed a coalition government in the north-western province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Now Imran Khan is the prominent political leader in the country & has been a strong candidate in 2018 elections to form a government in Pakistan.

The Slogan of ‘Naya Pakistan’ (New Pakistan)

As stated earlier that Mr Khan has really been an inspiration and a motivation for the youngsters in Pakistan. Imran Khan enjoys a large fan following of the ‘Youth' of Pakistan on social media and worldwide. So in this context, he has raised the slogan of ‘Naya Pakistan’ in his election campaign in 2013 elections in order to awake the ‘Youth’ of the country to contribute in the making of it. The ‘Youth’ responded positively to this call of their Kaptaan ever since then in Pakistan. This slogan has later ignited further terms like ‘Tsunami’ in his political campaign as well. According to this agenda of his campaign, he made the youngsters realize their potential and role in the contribution of ‘Naya Pakistan’ in the fields of ‘Health, Education and Economy’. He has announced certain schemes to promote this concept via his political speeches and campaign throughout the country. This slogan has done wonderfully in the true sense of the awakening of the whole nation to unite for the cause of making a better Pakistan. It is the result of this slogan that today Khan’s party has been declared to be the ruling party by the public of Pakistan in the general elections 2018.

Challenges for Imran Khan as a Prime Minister

Khan’s Victory Speech after the general elections 2018

On 26th July 2018, Khan decided to address the nation as the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. The speech went viral on the social media immediately after the broadcast and has been received warmly by all sects of people in Pakistan & even abroad as well. Imran Khan has been lashed out by the Indian Media as the ‘Terrorist’ and Pakistan as a ‘Terrorist state’ after the general elections of 2018. But as an elected PM Khan has taken it positively and has conveyed the message to the whole world that he is a civilized citizen and a ‘Peace Maker’, not a terrorist. The way he dealt with the rigging allegations by the opposition parties with opened arms to report rigging and the poll will be rechecked and the Indian media’s labelling him to be a threat to their country it’s commendable indeed. He has rectified the criticism convincingly by declaring his government policy in the following key points.

1) Spending over human development will be the top priority:

He made it clear to erase poverty and corruption are the most important points in his government policy. Such schemes will be launched that will bring up the low-class of the society upward, and he further ensured the issue of unemployment will be dealt with firm hands to raise the standards of living of the lower class of the country.

2) Kashmir as the vital issue in bringing peace in the South Asian region:

Imran Khan condemned the violation of human rights in Kashmir by the Indians for past thirty years. He urged India to come to the dialogue table instead of further humiliation of human rights. Khan strongly assured in his speech to welcome India in the negotiation process than the cold war at Kashmir issue since ages between the two neighbouring countries.

3) Indian media made propaganda against Khan and portrayed him as a villain:

Imran Khan expressed his disappointment at labelling him as a terrorist and targeting him as a villain to be portrayed in the South Asian region by the Indian media during the election 2018. He still invited the Indian government to step forward for the better relations with Pakistan.

4) Simplicity to be adopted during the tenure of PTI. People’s money will not be spared:

He nailed it when declared not to move to Prime Minister House after taking charge as the PM of the country instead suggested that such privileged buildings like PM & Governor house be utilized as the institutions for the service of the general public of the country.

5) Presented him and his elected parliamentary ministers available for the accountability on corruption:

This was the strong statement to deliver the message to the masses that everybody will be held accountable on corruption charges in the ‘Naya Pakistan’. He insisted on strengthening the system and government institutions of Judiciary and NAB in the future to form a solid foundation of the New Pakistan against the eradication of corruption.

6) An inventive foreign policy has been proclaimed by Khan:

He started with the Pak-China relationships to Iran, Afghanistan, India and the even USA by firmly telling them that he is surely a ‘Peace Maker’ to have the strong ties with all the neighbouring countries and with the US in order to promote peace & prosperity in South Asia with this foreign policy of his government. He is open to form negotiations and good trading relations with all his border across friends & foe in simple words.

The ‘Naya Pakistan’ is surely the message for the whole world by Khan’s speech. People felt it be the best speech in decades by any Prime Minister in Pakistan. It was for the first time in the history of the country Khan's speech has been broadcast live by CNN & BBC, despite being in the Urdu language. On a lighter note, Pakistanis declared Imran Khan as the new ‘ the Coolest Prime Minister’ instead of Justin Trudeau of Canada on Facebook & Twitter.

We are Pakistanis & We are not ‘Terrorists’

When the whole world has shown such a speech worldwide to the audience, I could not resist spreading a positive message of Khan via this article. The purpose of penning it all down was to let the world know that we have been put under this insignia of ‘terrorists’ wrongly ever since 911 attacks. Imran Khan has phrased the ‘Naya Pakistan’ and we Pakistanis are going to make it happen under his able leadership in the near future to break this shackled tag of ‘terrorists’ state’ off us soon. His speech has been a clear message to the whole world of being 'a peace-loving nation' not a terrorist state.

Positive Pakistan
