REASONS FOR IMPEACHMENT

Updated on June 16, 2010

INTRODUCTION

My fellow hubbers I am making no judgment about innocence or guilt but I have seen a lot of dancing around an issue that concerns all of us. I haven’t seen anything like it since the days of Richard Nixon and the “Watergate” scandal. This affair brought down a presidency and we all know why as it’s said, “It’s the cover up“ that caused it all!!!!!!!

IT’S THE CONSTITUTION STUPID

The Constitution is our founding document but I know you know that. All our laws are based on the power of that document. That’s what is bothering me. We are a society based on law not on men or women. There are fundamental things we must all abide by and there are no exceptions. I’ve seen presidential press secretary Robert (grunts like a pig) Gibbs dancing around this issue. Was Joe Sestak offered a bribe to not run against Arlen Specter? If that is the fact then the Constitution is clear on that point!!!!!!! Citation below:

Article. II.

Section. 4.

"The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors"

I’ve intentionally put in bold and larger font the applicable section of the Constitution of the offense alleged. As I previously said I’m not judging guilt or innocence not yet. Questions on this matter must be answered forthwith. C’mon Gibbs quit dancing and jiving around just answer the question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had enough with Tricky Dick we can’t go though that hubbub again with Obama let’s get to the TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with your sentiments. I didn't have much faith in this president from the start but I prayed he would prove me wrong. I haven't seen that yet.

I recently wrote a blog about the failure of an American president at the Springboard, whereas the main theme of the opinion was that it is not something to wish for any president to fail, but it is vitally important to recognize when he does. I think most Americans unfortunately still have blinders on.

      Jim,

I think the narcissism and arrogance of this president was evident early on and that's the fatal flaws that brought Nixon down.

It is funny to me that even though you wrote this hub seems more like two years ago, the current situation with the IRS scandal is more like Watergate than anything we have seen so far.

The question is will we get to the bottom of it all, or will this just be another dealing with this president that just gets overlooked, and underreported?

I don't want the fox investigating the thief in the hen house. I prefer an independent investigation.

      cjv123,

I think impeachment is unlikely, but I do want the truth. I am doubtful of the lame excuse put forward today, but time will tell!!!!!!!!!

thanks.. I hate it when Im thinking a mile a minute and only type about a third of what im thinking LOL. To be honest about this and fair.

latest news is the white house enlisted Slick willy to try to talk sesetak out of running. so does this mean Slick willy will get hit with a bribery charge.. highly unlikely considering who controls Justice.

maybe its time we force the Gov to make the head of justice an electable position or appointed by a the Supreme court or something. so as to avoid future conflicts of interest.

No apology needed as long as we find out the truth. I'm not interested in the punishment if any is ever doled out.

Sorry was tired and thinking more than I was typing. I mentioned courts becuase in my opinion it was one of Obamas Staff who did the deed, and the President wont be implicated. not that I dont think he knew and approved.

Im sure Watergate taught them Plausible deniablity.

      Dusty,

I would prefer Biden also. I also agree Nixon had the grace to resign but I see no similar traits in Obama. I really just want to get to the truth. (Bill Dana)

      Tony,

I agree Gibbs is running from the truth.

      outdoorguy,

Impeachment is a matter for Congress. I just want the truth to come out and let the chips fall where they may.

      Pamela,

Yes a thorough investigation is warrented. I think Sestak will tell the truth because even Rendell is putting the pressure on him.

Tom, You are right. A thorough investigation is warranted and Republicans are going to push hard for that to happen and maybe we need to write our representatives to demand an investigation. Sustak needs to tell the whole truth or he will be charged with impeding an investigation. The dirty tricks have to catch up with them sooner or later. Great hub.

Well the justice department is not going to investigate last I heard. the FBI is how ever. it remains to be seen if they find out anything and if they do will the courts touch it. they seem to avoid alot of issues lately.

The problem is, even if Obama was impeached, we'd have Biden and the Congress, with too many in both parties wanting to take us down the wrong road. Also, when this was first talked about, it seems Sestak should have reported the 'bribe' immediately, and by not doing so has left himself open to prosecution. That said, for his own sake he has to make sure, if he ever tells the 'whole' story, he's got to tell it in a way that is not bribery.

I love a hub that cuts right to the heart of the matter. Sestak better come forward with the entire story and the White House had better be held accountable. How arrogant of Gibbs to state that "they" looked into the matter and are satisfied nothing was wrong. This is insane.
