Reality Bytes, People Are Cruel! Why Are People So Selfish!

Updated on May 11, 2012

People are cruel, although there is compassion and love in this world it is far more familiar to find people rude and cruel.

Have you ever walked through a city and noticed how reluctant people in cars are to stop to let you cross a street? Usually they are on a cell phone and just pretend not to see you.

How many times has an inconsiderate driver cut you off in your vehicle and thrown you a finger in the rear view mirror?

In a group is when people can be the most cruel. They will single out the weakest in the group for ridicule and to be the butt of their jokes.

Have you noticed people who are nice to someones face but talk trash about them the minute their backs are turned? How about people manipulating people through guilt or fear to do things that they do not want to do?

Have you ever had someone borrow money from you only to make it seem like they are doing you a favor paying you back? How about catching someone you trusted stealing from you?

Have you ever had someone get angry with you simply because you told them the truth? Has anyone ever put the blame on you for something that they did?

Do you notice how people gather around accident scenes? Why do people get a thrill about gawking at another's misery?

Have you noticed the smug look on a persons face as they donate to charity? The superior attitude of being better then others?

Why do people become ghouls when someone dies. Stalking the Estate for anything of value that they can get their ghoulish grip upon. Demanding and fighting over the deceased's possessions, most times this begins before the person is even laid to rest.

Clamouring around a widow/widower in the hopes that they can become a beneficiary. Even manipulating the person to sign wills when they are not in their right frame of mind.

People are naturally selfish and self absorbed in their own reality. Thinking they are the most important person in the world. Treating others as if the only reason for their existence is to make them happy. Blaming the world for every tragedy that occurs in their life.

What happened to personal responsibility? What happened to the strength of independence? Where has the desire to succeed gone? Why is their such a sense of entitlement in the world today? Since when does the world owe anybody anything?

Realty Bytes...There are definitely those who wish to steal your day, on any given day. Just yesterday I was shopping in a big box store. A worker came within six inches of me as she passed, I greeted her, she looked me in the eye and sped off, no acknowledgment ever. Her face was filled with anger.

Later in the store, a young man eagerly helped me to find the price of an item. So while the rebuff from that worker I first met was a bit unfortunate it was offset by the second encounter.

So hopefully you can find that happening for you. I am a bit of a Pollyanna type but I do see when things are not as they should be. I do not know nor can I explain why some just seem to be cruel for no reasons except to be cruel. But I try, try not to let that be how I deal with others even if I am having a horrible day. And we all have them from time to time.

Trying to let the unhappiness of others roll off of me is a way to avoid the sting of others cruelty.

I am glad I found this posting as it is good to consider such issues and use the information to formulate a plan to try harder to not be one of those.

Thanks tamron, this was my first attempt at writing out my thoughts. The more I think about it, the truer it is.

People are so stressed and worried about stuff. They never slow down to enjoy the simple things in life.

I use to be that way! I was constantly frustrated.

The funniest thing I ever saw was to old men fighting over a parking spot.

They were beating the hell out of each other with there Cains.

I had an old man once that was on Oxygen give me the finger. We were in such a position neither of us could see the traffic to turn.

I was there first and I was just getting ready to go when he pulled up along the side of me. If anyone should have been pissed it should have been me!

What happened yo genuinely just being in other people without judgement. But I can't even say because did 'what happened, ever happen?

      I like to think so.

Every morning [within my many many faults] I ask that people treat me today as I treated people yesterday. Within that I really mean it

Thought this was a really important and genuinely well written hub where I would have been lost as to where to start and where to stop!

      Thank you
