You Make The Call About NPD

Updated on November 6, 2013

The graphic displayed here was made by an old friend of mine who has a background in treating mental disorders. Having a narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disease which often requires treatment. I don't profess to be a mental health expert but I will profess to reading and researching a lot, especially when I am about to write something. The man who bestowed this graphic on me told me at the time to make the call on the subject pictured based upon his having at least five (5) of the personality traits listed. Obama had just recently entered office so I wanted to take the time to observe him closely, which I have done.

Early on, Dr. Charles Krauthammer stated that Obama suffers from this mental disorder. What does Charles know? He just happens to be a psychiatrist in case you missed his medical credentials. He's the one who advised that you are best served by watching what Obama does and not what he says. That advice has proven to be sound advice as I have watched closely. I have listened to what he says now and also on the campaign trail. I then compare that to what he does. Too many times those two things are diametrically opposed to each other.

Here's how Merriam-Webster defines this affliction: a personality disorder characterized especially by an exaggerated sense of self-importance, persistent need for admiration, lack of empathy for others, excessive pride in achievements, and snobbish, disdainful, or patronizing attitudes. That's close to the lead on the graph above. Then that definition is followed by 9 bullets to help any reader hone in on the subject at hand, in this case it is Barack H. Obama. Along the path of my examination I read his books. If you haven't then you should. I suggest that you obtain them from the public library rather than buy them.

My intent here isn't to fill your head with medical jargon but rather to identify the symptoms of this disease. There are many figures in history that have suffered from this ailment. I won't compare Obama to them as people will claim I am being hateful. That is not my intent here. I have done my analysis of Obama in relation to the bullets and have come up with a minimum of five of the nine, both by watching what he says and by what he does. The purpose of my putting this out here is to 1) educate people who need to be educated about someone who is holding the highest office in this nation, 2) make you very aware that this person is suffering from a serious mental disorder that can be destructive in nature, not only to themselves but to all those around them and 3) give readers a chance to exemplify by comment, specific bullets that apply to the present President of the United States.

I, in turn, will try to add any clarity that I find appropriate in view of the fact that I have bothered to read extensively on this subject. I have watched Obama in action, as you may have. I have listened to his rhetoric endlessly because he never misses an opportunity to be in front of a camera or an audience. I have witnessed his flip replies to those who were serious when he obviously wasn't. I have seen him seek adulation from world leaders on the world stage, apologizing when no apology is necessary. I have witnessed his arrogance and the propensity to blame others for his own shortcomings. I have seen him throw former associates, even his own minister, "under the bus" when their usefulness to him has expired. The tick marks can go on as I use the list.

I have expressed to several readers that I was working on this. It didn't take long to write as I am a writer and the visual is an excellent source of knowledge about this subject. I needed to do some more research, thinking and examination as I was connecting all the dots. While one may find it tolerable in the every day, common man on the street, it needs to be looked at very closely when people are in power and want to control all of those around them, including you and me. Look back into history and observe the leaders of the world who were totally absorbed in both themselves and their agenda. Look at the results of the actions of those people. Then ask yourself, "Is that the type of person I want to be leading my nation and making the decisions that will affect countless generations after I am no longer here?" This really isn't about you or me. It is about our heirs and descendents.

That is my concern about what I am witnessing. Then Anthony Weiner came flying over the horizon and without a doubt he is a narcissistic individual. So that made the case for me and it's time that we talk about it. This isn't about Bush, the Koch brothers, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh or anyone else but Obama. You need to please stay on topic if you desire to be heard. That's my primary rule of blogging. If you can't adhere to that simple rule then don't bother to comment.

This is an opportunity to open your mind and take a close look. This is a mental disorder and a rather serious one when placed in the proper perspective of what you expect from a leader. Me? Having led men and women for two decades plus I have encountered it more than once and had to deal with it. In the course of history, the world has had to deal with the people and circumstances of this disorder being manifested in those in power. That needs to be dealt with at this time. Is there an easy answer? There never is...

As Always,
