Decisions are being made right now for you by others - how do you react to that?
Should the electoral college be abolished in order to avoid choosing 2 sides of the same coin?
No. The voting system should just know their priorities better. It used to be that the electorial college was a copy of how the country voted. Not the exact opposite. If the people voted a certain way, the members voted the way the people did. However, this has changed dramatically. It is sadening that they no longer listen to the people but think that they are above our thinking.
Personally I'd be in favor of a system where the candidate wins the "popular vote is elected. As it is I suppose that's the way things go down the majority of time. It's not often a candidate loses the "the popular" vote but wins the electorial college vote.
No matter how things are handled there will be close to 50% of the voters who are unhappy with the results. This does not include those who are unhappy but didn't bother to vote.
In the end the democratic election process is about (agreeing to accept) the final results of an election whether your candidate wins or not.
I react by saying it has always been that way. There has never been a golden age of democracy in the US. In fact, there has never been true democracy in the world since ancient Athens. As far as the electoral college goes, yes, I think it should be abolished. It served a purpose if the common people had no vote on the presidency. But if the common people are allowed to vote, it serves no useful purpose.
Completely unsurprised. Our country is a republic. People supposedly intended to represent us, but largely in office because they had the money to campaign and everyone with scruples is too busy trying to earn a living, make decisions on our behalf constantly. Of course, the downside is that no one with the money to run for office actually knows what it's like to be the average Joe Schmoe American living off food stamps, trying to get live-saving medical treatment, worrying about my uneducated kids thanks to the horrendous educational system, and wondering why all my work has been outsourced to India and China. Hence, no matter who is elected, we're still boned.
The only way to get an honest person in office is to make it illegal for anyone who WANTS the job, to HAVE the job. Instead, we have electoral boards that review every American citizen as a possible candidate and then choose based on actual credentials and abilities.

Decisons are made right at this very moment. Are you making your decisons yourself? Is someone else really making your decisions for you? Are there factors out of your control that really are influencing the decisions you make?

The more I hear about this upcoming election the more confused I get.One of the so called "Delegates" even loudly proclaimed it was they who choose the next winner, not the voters. What if all Primaries were held on the exact same day? What if we did away with the Electoral College? What if...

What movie would you want to see being made right now? What film do you want to see in theaters?Other than an 'original' film or an 'original' idea... be specific about the type of movie you have been wanting to see. Is there any movie that was ever made like the one you would want to see?

Do presidential debates affect which person you vote for?I plan to watch the presidential debates, but I am virtually certain about which candidate has my vote. I wonder if other people feel the same way.
