    What do you think of this present world?

    Are we going forward or backward ? I personally cannot see we would or is getting any better. Mankind are doing every living thing they could do to oppose GOD their creator. I am getting sick of this world the news is depressing, the acceptance of nasty living, wrong doings etc. Its now normal. Everything is about RIGHTS and Rights  and the rights is what have this world in a big mess....What do you think?

    "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that {all men are created equal}, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable {Rights}, that among these are
    Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
    Those words written in The Declaration of Independence in essence captures the spirit of the American Dream!
    Yes it's about rights!
    In fact this nation felt so strongly about rights that it created a "Bill of Rights". That's one of the reasons why many people want to come to the U.S. You have {the right} to practice your religion here!
    Do you really think taking away your right to practice your religion would improve the world? Eliminating the right to vote based upon race or gender?
    Whose rights do you suggest be taken away? How is racism and discrimination of any kind the pathway to having a better world?
    Maybe much of the unrest you sense comes from people not being content with (controlling their own lives). They in fact want to STOP other people from their  "pursuit of Happiness".
    Maybe a "live and let live" approach is best. If we focus on having our own individual house in order we'll have less stress in our lives.

      Hi D think you took it out of context "RIGHTS" ... RIGHTS has good and bad.. Long ago what was wrong was wrong,  now today RIGHTS have made wrong right. Because every cat & dog have rights and want some rights to condone their unacceptable ways e

      I think it's totally in context. Who's rights would you be ok to take away? Yours? Or someone else's who happens to be something you don't agree with?

      Joanna, Rights are those of the "individual". You can't give rights to one group of people and deny them for another group. That's discrimination. Who defines "unacceptable"? Hugh Hefner was 86 when he married his 26 year old bride. Is it ok? Yes

    I'm with Dashing on this.

    I think that the world now is more positive as a whole. We fight for other people's rights to be respected rather than focusing solely on what we see as our rights.

    If I don't speak up for other people whose rights are being denied, no one will speak for me when mine are.

    You speak of rights - and of 'wrongs being given rights' - in the not so distant past just being who you are as a woman, LadyFiddler, would mean you had no rights - including to say no to sex in marriage (legal rape). I gather from your picture you may be of African American descent - not so long ago - you were 'the wrong being given rights' - with emancipation of slaves, and desegregation, and the legalisation of inter-racial marriage
    (Please note - I do not think you are 'a wrong' - I am making the point that very recently your ethnicity was considered as such with BIBLICAL backing. I do not agree with anything that occurs prior to your ancestors gaining rights).

    So when you speak of 'wrongs being given rights' - who are you calling 'wrong?' Remember we are all Gods creations (if that is your belief), and it's not our place to judge another - it's His. I'm not a believer but I'm also not going to judge.

    Who's rights do we deny? Yours? Plenty of people thought it was a good idea 50yrs ago. Even though those rights harmed  no one and benefited many greatly.

    Mine? I guess you think I'm a wrong in your book - who am I harming by having these rights? Have I harmed you?  what if it was you child who's rights you were denying?

    Anyone who doesn't agree with your view on life? What if someone who didn't agree with you made the rules? What if it was yr rights?

    You see - the world is a better place, we are starting to get educated about differences and learn about each other. We need to fight for each other's rights, or there'll be no one left when our turn comes.

    It's better now, and I believe we are living more like Christ now than we have - loving thy neighbour etc. not judging thy neighbour.

      Ok lets say i have the right not to accept gay marriages and i own a cake store and i refuse to bake a cake for a gay couple do you know that the law can infringed upon MY RIGHTS & sue me because i don't accept gays rights. That's NOT FAIR or RIG

      Joanna, It is against the law to discriminate in busines due to race, age, gender, religion & sexual orientation.
      If you're against gay marriage it means (you) wouldn't marry someone of the same sex! It doesn't mean you can deny people's rights.

      What if what i believe in " GOD" condemns it wouldn't i be going against my conscience and my faith? How would i feel good decorating a cake for someone that i have no desire to do so for. It's my business i have the right to sell who i want!!

      But if I denied you a cake for your birthday because I was a JW? Or a wedding cake because I disagreed with interracial marriage - you'd be ok with that? Because it's my business + against my religion? Or would that be racist? Think about it b honest

    Love it!   Getting worse?   Not a chance!  Can you imagine the world of three or four hundreds years back: plague, pestilence, no chance of getting over a serious wound or illness.  Medicine - apart from in some parts of Asia - a joke; leeches to 'get rid of bad blood.'   Wars between small areas, which sometimes went on for a hundred years, like Britain's War of the Roses.

    Starvation was rife.   And we know it is still that way in a lot of the world, but it was even more widespread then.   The victors in wars made slaves of their defeated foes.  Every castle had its torture-chamber dungeons.  There was grime, crime and filth beyond imagining.

    Not so now, at least not to the same extent.  The world's media will tell you differently.  They concentrate on drama, the emotional story which will arouse anger.  They do this mainly because they feel good news is no news.  For example, in a city of 10,000,000 people, there might be three murders, half-a-dozen crimes of passion and a few hundred lesser crimes, making up perhaps 0.001% of the 'bad things' that happened.  The 9,999,950 who came through without anything untoward happening is completely ignored.

    Don't give too much credence to the way the pessimists and misinformed see the world.   It is getting better...and getting better in every way every day.

    #1 Let me start off by saying I am not an American and do not EVER wish to be one. America set very LITTLE standards presently for the world.

    #2 We all need some sort of rights in order to survive in this world like we have a right to choose whatever religion we want to be, a right to vote for which ever party that we assume may take over office etc. A right to correct our children etc. BUT if only all these rights remained in the RIGHT context the world will be in a better place.

    Someone answered below that there's more food etc now. YES CERTAINLY but the food today isn't as it were 50-60 yrs a back where we'd get real organic foods w/o being hormone injected and hybridized , which is causing a lot of hormonal problems especially in women.

    Yes we certainly have came a long way with technology and we appreciate it BUT doesn't the internet has more bad than good? how many children and adults are getting lured everyday? How many people now engage themselves in watching pornography , having secret online sex lives even if they have their wife/husbands. It's now easy to access the devil found an easier way to get inside your homes.

    Is that better? when the divorce rate is ever rising and far surpassing it's limits/ why is that? I guess we are really going forward and guess what the same internet has mashed up many many families.

    If everybody wants rights and rights and it's okay to give them their rights always then why do the police lock up or prosecute a prostitute? Isn't it her body & her right to sell it if she wants?

    Isn't it my right as a christian not to accept gay marriages? not to defiantly disrespect God's word for the sake of friendship or social engagements ?  and if you choose as your right to accept homosexuality then that's YOUR RIGHT not mines then why are some people trying to shove their rights upon others . Why am I singled out as being judgmental if i decide to stand by my rights and denounce gays? Why should the law want to infringe upon my rights if i do not want to serve them?

    Why is it that the same judges,priests,pastors, bishops etc who once saw the above as unbecoming and they even had laws to ban such immoral acts and even venturing out in public or in a church with that was a no no. Now the same Judges/law has dropped their standards, laws & RIGHTS to accept what was once wrong as RIGHT!

    How women once clothed themselves now everything is outside and it was unacceptable to show your persons ? NOW IT'S FINE Everything is sexualize the songs, mags, movies, cartoon , games etc. WHAT ARE THEY TEACHING THE CHILDREN? Are these stars role models? This world to me is getting WORST, creepier and sicker everyday!

    This world goes all out not to offend anyone but does everything else to OFFEND God and they do not care.

      YOU are not an American! We stress equality here! We vote for it, march for it, fight for it, and we die for it. We also have separation of church and state. How far would you set the dial back? World War II, slave trade? All eras had problems..

    This world seems to be getting worse.  The bible correctly states that in the last days it will be as in the days of Noah. I believe we are getting there.

      Smallpox killed more than 300 million people worldwide in the 20th century alone. Spanish Flu (1918/19): Killed 50-100 million people worldwide in less than 2 years! It wasn't the end days
