   Should homosexual relationships be so prominently displayed on television as they have been lately?
   
   I know you are all going to call me a bigot and whatever else comes to mind because I feel it is a bad idea to prominently feature homosexual relationships especially with young teen age children.  I believe more and more of our youth are being encouraged to explore alternative sexual relationships.  I believe there are people who are gay and will be gay but also believe there are a number of people who just aren't sure about themselves and we shouldn't be encouraging them to become homosexual.  I know you all think I'm a hater now so go ahead and tear me a new one.

   The extremely left wing oriented mainstream media is absolutely trying to encourage homosexuality. As if being homosexual is some sort of virtue all of a sudden.
   
   Well, I pretty much never watch television because 1. it's not very entertaining, and 2. I realize the efforts in place to program me and everyone else in the nation. So 3. I watch major league baseball, and literally, that's it.
   
   These sorts of cultural ideas always run their course after a time.

      You can't "encourage" homosexuality, any more than you can encourage blue eyes or blonde hair. Either you are, or you aren't, and no TV show is going to turn you gay.

      Any heterosexuals we know who needed 2B guided, directed, influenced demonstrated, exposed or TAUGHT~ to be Heterosexual?  Well? I can wait 4 UR answer. I watched lots of TV cowboys, have Native Amer, friends, love horses but I'm not a cowboy.

   I think the issue is less that gay relationships are being displayed lately, and more that they were not a part of any story line in the past. Hollywood was in the closet. Now, it's not. Writers are free to include gay characters and story lines. In the same way TV was entirely white for many years, and then we started seeing people of many races, now we see characters of many genders and sexual orientations.
   
   The fact is, there are gay, lesbian and trans people in the world. Their representation on screen is just as valid as straight, cis people's. If it makes you uncomfortable to watch stories that are outside your own experiences, you're going to have a very narrow selection of things to watch.
   
   Just so you know, television can't "encourage" someone to be gay. You're gay, or you're not. But if your view of things causes you to worry about becoming gay by watching television---don't watch. There are plenty of shows out there that don't include gay characters or story lines. Get yourself a Netflix subscription, and have at it.
   
   Along the same lines, if you think shows that include characters and story lines that are representative of all people might scar your children, don't let them watch. Exercise your rights as a parent, and turn the TV off, or change the channel.
   
   Not wanting to watch certain types of stories is pretty common. I don't like horror movies, or slasher pics with too much violence. My solution is to not watch them, not to question whether they should exist at all. I suggest you take this as your solution. Don't like it? Don't watch it.

      I think I need to come to terms with it rather than avoid it but it's difficult because I grew up in a time and culture where we hated homosexuals.

      It's a shame that any of us grew up in a time & culture that allowed or encouraged "hate" of any degree toward any person or group of people. The only thing we should hate is the concept of hate & perhaps the word itself.

   All human nature is a combination of genetics, environment and choice. Anyone who thinks otherwise will have a lot of scientific studies to disprove.
   
   As a father of three, I personally don't like any media that has a damaging or life-changing impact on children. A healthy and nurturing environment belongs to the parents.
   
   We can make the same enviornment case about pornography and a link to rape, violent video games and a link to gun violence, etc.

   People don't "catch the gay". You're either gay or you're not. Seeing two men kissing doesn't suddenly make you homosexual.
   You complain that "our youth are being encouraged." So bloody what? If your child turns out to prefer people of the same gender, who cares? Why is it a problem in 2016?
