Saloons in 19th c. Alaska may have been a lot like the saloons in Dublin OH when Dublin was the Wild West ( it really was). Saloons often had a big crock of pickled eggs sitting on the bar -- people could get drunk while eating eggs with their beer.
It always makes me laugh to think of Dublin in those days and of Alaska Gold rush days, which makes me think of the Mad Magazine parody of "The Face On the Barroom Floor."
This is likely not what you meant by the question, but it gave me a laugh. Thanks.
The only way you can get drunk eating pickled eggs is if you consume a high grade alcohol to wash them down. Alaskans are very tolerant people as a whole, but too many pickled eggs would even be too much for them!
