What do you feel about the representative democratic system going on in our country?
I think it is great.this system will make people feel better.
I think it is the best system the world over. That said, there ARE definite issues with it at the present time. Americans need to be far more involved in politics than they are, because politics affect every aspect of our lives ultimately.
I've said it a thousand times that I'm constantly hearing complaining about the Congress and Senate being populated by buffoons, and not getting the work of the American people done. I hear complaints about "this guy has been in Congress for 30 years!"
WE are the electorate. WE are the people. WE either elect these folks in, or we don't. If these folks have been in office for 30 years it is because we have voted them back to those offices time and time again. If these folks are ineffective and we send them back, what message does that really send to them? What does it say about what we really want to see as a people? What does it really say about the validity of our complaint?
If we want change. If we want effective governance, then it is incumbent upon US, the American people, the American voter, to get it done, and to ensure that anyone who DOES get sent to Washington who DOESN'T get it done is NOT sent back to continue to not get it done.
If people like Obama would leave it alone and quit pushing legislation that slowly erodes our liberty, we might know how we feel about it. I think most folks with any knowledge and awareness are currently living in fear of losing our democratic process and slowly drifting into socialism with a little help from the Obama Administration. Environmentalism (for profit), socialist legislation, welfare and healthcare offerings, and outright incompetence on the part of elected officials is slowly selling the America we have known down the river. The main problem is that we have a very illegitimate democratic system. Our voters elect only those people who are popular and not if they are capable. The big dilemma if GMA is ousted, the VP will take over who was elected PURELY because he’s popular with the masses, and not because...

Has our government become a system "of the nuts, by the nuts, and for the nuts"?Given the overbearing power of extreme left wing and right wing voices, and the way we choose sides before we have facts in hand and engage in rational thought on any given question, has our US representative...
