Trump has become the 47th President.  Now, the hatred has escalated to full force. There are those who has an unfounded, phobic fear that Trump will turn America into a dictatorship.  There are some who even believe, baited by MSNBC, CNN, & other left leaning media outlets, that Trump won't change anything in America but used that language to guile "unsuspecting", "unaware" Americans into voting for him.  The Democratic Party is quite suspicious of Trump, contending that he will lead America into perdition.  In their assessment, Trump isn't going to do what he said he was going to do.  Trump isn't even in office yet; however, there are some who are predicting his doom.  Thoughts?

It has begun no matter how you slice it. As you said, he is the 47th President. Not going to be . . . he is!! Not only do those you projected upon being 'some' Democrats need to accept that, but 'some' Republicans need to accept that as well along with others that have no party affiliation. As far as that goes, the world over, which is evident by phone meetings Trump is having with world leaders who have accepted that he is the 47th President. The wait and lets see after his inauguration is complete BS. He is the 47th President and is 'Now' changing not only our nation, but the world!!

Your use of the exclamation marks leaves me confused about your intended context.

        "Wow! That was amazing!"
        "indicate urgency "
        "Sarcasm or Irony"
        "excitement, surprise"
        or "yikes"

Didn't folks on this very forum predict a deep dark depression coming over the country?

So very true.  They scrape the bottom of the barrel more often than not whenever they decide whom to nominate as presidential candidates.  And on the rare occasion they have a decent candidate that they could nominate as a presidential candidate, they either pass over that candidate or when they do nominate that candidate, they treat him or her unfairly in the selection process.

They must jump through so many hoops, and unnaturally contort themselves in order to please and appease the latest woke check list items. When all is said and done, there's very little left to choose from, other than "the bottom of the barrel".

Angie, we have plenty left, great people that Trump could choose from... However, keep the faith, most will be confirmed. I only see one that may not, but I am not even sure he won't make it. This is all bluster. I expect much more. This bunch has been wounded pretty badly. They will put on a bit of a show, but Trump will get his team.

I have been told by various people in my family that are liberals that they fear Trump will become a dictator, and how he'll become president for life.  I doubt he'll be president for life because there's too many senators, congressman and etc who all have aspirations to become president someday themselves on both sides that I doubt seriously they'll pass any sort of bill that'll allow President Trump to be president for the rest of his life.  That's absurd. I do think that if the Democrats aren't careful, then they could be looking at JD Vance becoming the next president of the United States for 8 years, after Trump leaves office.  I do foresee that happening.  I'm not saying I want JD to be president, but he does speak better publicly than Trump does about policies, and he has a lot of support among Trump's base, which is why I'm saying that.

I think it's too soon to tell how this presidency under Trump will go.  However, I doubt seriously he's going to become a dictator because there's too many things that would stand in Trump's way to prevent that from happening.

However, I do think the Democrats need to regroup, and stop blaming the voters and everyone else for why they lost.  They need to regroup because the MAGA movement isn't going away.  I'm not saying I'm a Trump supporter myself, as I hated both candidates for varying reasons.  However, I do think the MAGA movement is going to take over the Republican party if it hasn't already.  At least, that's my two cents.

        Dictator? Why not, Lone Wolf?

He has a packed Court of right wing reactionaries that supported Gerrymandering and voter suppression. A court that will rule in his favor rather than otherwise whether appropriate or not.

He has made verbal threats against his adversaries and attacked the foundations of a free press in a way that is unprecedented by any Presidential Candidate.

He will have a Republican dominated congress, who will give him everything he wants. Why not turn up the screws on authoritarianism and reactionary policy?

Yes, I believe that now that Trump and the GOP has the legislative, executive and judicial branches why not reduce the Constitution to so much toilet paper?

I say that there is a danger, he and his sort know no restraint. Now, that is dictatorship in the wings.

Anything is possible.  However, only time will tell.   I just have serious doubts Trump would have that kind of power to become a dictator even if he wanted to.  However, I'll be the first to admit I've been wrong before.   I do think whoever organized Kamala Harris campaign needs to be fired, as they couldn't have done a worst job promoting her if they tried.

The MAGA movement started as a white male movement, but now mysoginist of all races are jumping on the bandwagon if the news reports are true. I just saw a news report that women are now rejecting relationships with men because of mysoginy, and this is a worldwide movement, not just a backlash in this country. It was from a news service on my phone, so I don't know how to transfer it to my computer. I think it may have been on AP. If I can find it, I'll come back and post it.

I've only seen this phrase in one post on X. Is there really a movement behind it? It feels more like just another rude comment meant to provoke reactions, particularly from left-leaning women. The post was definitely an insult to women and seemed designed to bully. But calling it a "movement" feels like a stretch. Honestly, I don't need to see the few articles that are suggesting it's part of a movement—I’ve seen them, but none of them provided solid proof, just claims. Online threats can be tracked, and I also noticed that those claiming to be threatened didn’t even report it to the FBI. So, is there a problem? Yes. A movement? Hardly.

The bait is old and frankly, a bit silly at this point. We won, and I couldn't be more overjoyed. Common sense prevailed, and American values triumphed. For those in our society who want to wallow in negativity, I honestly think they deserve pity. It’s all about mindset—some simply lack the ability to maintain a healthy, positive outlook. They just can't.

I truly believe it’s more of a psychological issue than anything else. People who constantly focus on the negative may be struggling with something deeper problems.

The posts are literally showing up all over social media.  One, of many that I caught this morning...on Reddit.

"I'm not really sure if this post fits here but I received a call from my daughter's Middle School saying she got into trouble for fighting a group of boys. She's a 5-1, quiet middle school girl on the spectrum so calling it a fight is a stretch. So I tried to ask the teacher what happened but they wouldn't give me any details saying they couldn't speak for the district.  They needed to run it through legal first?  later my daughter explained that a group of boys had been taunting her and another classmate during the lunch period by saying "your body my choice"  saying  things I don't even want to type. After this happened the school told me there was really nothing they could do. The boys parents would be contacted but the school will not push to limit anything they feel is "protected speech " Exact words.
The incident was raised at the school board meeting in the following few days and guess what, they chose not to broadcast the meeting as is done regularly...."

In response to a post made by Ken I also linked several reactions from parents who had girls targeted as well as postings from young women who have been harassed.

In terms of people reporting it.  I haven't seen any follow-up of what different posters have chosen to do or not chosen to do.    I will have to say though I'm sort of over people continually blaming the victim.

It’s truly disturbing what happened to that child and her family. However, it's important to acknowledge that, unfortunately, people can post whatever they please on social media these days. At least the issue was reported to the proper authorities, which is the right step.

We live in a society that seems to believe they can say and do anything without consequence. My own grandson, just 10 years old, was belittled by a grown woman at the grocery store for wearing his Trump hat. He was so excited to have it, and when my daughter-in-law shared the story, it brought tears to my eyes. This woman called him a "mutant" and said, “your mom's voting for a dictator” repeatedly. If I had been there, I can promise you, she would’ve regretted it. With my words, she would still be trying to dig herself out of the hole I'd put her in. Honestly, you have to feel a little sorry for people who are emboldened to say such things. It’s important to look at the source of that behavior.

In the end, bullying isn’t anything new. Whether it’s a girl on the playground, a woman taking offense to a harsh comment, or a young boy, bullying has always been part of our society—a sad part, but still a part, and has been ever since I can remember...  It’s a shame that some people think it’s okay to target others.

I agree, Bullying has no place and my God no adult should ever speak to a 10 year old in that manner. That's a horrific lack of judgment and decency.

I fear for what this nation is becoming.  All fueled by  political "ideology" that has become ingrained in some folks almost as an identity.

The common thread though? I feel that Trump has emboldened the idea of "shooting off one's mouth". You know, to speak very bluntly and in harsh terms concerning your feelings about anyone or anything.  If he can name call and bully, then why can't I?

This phrase "your body my choice" didn't exist before Nov 5.  It was born out of Trump's election.  The "bro-tastic" hyper masculine campaign that was launched, gave rise to this.
Gave permission for this.    We're going down an ugly road.  I hope you will take a few minutes to look at just a few of the tik toks I have referenced.   This is not a media I would normally access but it's where Young folks live and gives a real picture into what's happening.

I think that is what has shocked the Left the most, despite spending a billion dollars, strong-arming every P-diddy guest to ever go to one of his parties to campaign for Harris... and the fullblown Main Stream Media support for Harris and the assault on Trump...

None of it worked... even the handful of States they had on standby to work through their 'Mail In Ballots' after the election was over didn't help.

Where do you come up with this stuff?  Just because you make up things about MAGA doesn't make it true.  This is the stuff of fantasy.

The Make America Great Again movement started when President Donald Trump ran for president in 2016.  It was about restoring American beliefs and values.  Bring back law & order, having a secure border, etc.

Why is the left so afraid of American beliefs and values?

"The Democratic Party is quite suspicious of Trump."

I would add, because Trump actually gets the work of the people done! It grates on Dems, because they are so good at promising what they can never deliver!
Until the past 8 years or so, they've done a good at convincing a slew of people that they can deliver --- just give them your vote!!
Their problem now is that their numbers (their slew) have dwindled...
    The people have their number!

What I've noticed with a quick stroll through the forum discussions this morning, the rhetoric of Trump hate has shifted to include such Bliss that was/that is, Joe and Kamala! It is so dripping, I think I hear 'The Candy Man' song playing in the background. (Who can make the sunrise, sprinkle it with dew.....)
Alas, they've paved the way for Trump to succeed. He will be able to take full credit for all of the good... that they know MUST be coming America'a way, via a Trump Administration.

I think, if you accept that half of the suspicions you have about our government are true, that this is not over by a long shot...

It will not be over even when/if Trump is sworn in...

Trump represents the People of America that want America and American Citizens to come first...

The Democrats today (and some RINOs) represent a Donor Class that does not care about America or American Citizens, they want to shape the world to fit their image... Americans, and the American Constitution, are proving to be problematic to that New World Order they want to create.

I have noted things like the WEF and UN Agenda 2030 before... the goals and agendas they state have no place for Nation States that put the interests of their citizens above the interests of the WEF and UN...

Some examples of what is to come:

Democrats Scream TRUMP CHEATED, Claim Elon Used STARLINK To STEAL 2024 Election

Liberals Call On Democrats To CUT OFF FAMILY Who Voted Trump, Democrats Mental Breakdown WORSENS

The Cabal in Control of DC today have no interest in recognizing the will of the People, their interest is in finding a way to thwart it, undermine it, negate it and ignore it.

Misogyny is completely unacceptable, and no woman should ever have to deal with it. I totally get why a woman would stand up against being treated that way by a man. But putting all men into one category and treating them as if they're all the same? That just doesn’t sit right with me and doesn’t seem to show a lot of reason or intelligence. I’ve seen some far-left women going to extremes, like cutting off their hair with scissors and claiming they'll never have sex again. Honestly, it just makes them look like they’re overreacting and not very strong emotionally.

It would be so much smarter to respond to misogyny in ways that actually help. Instead of these dramatic gestures, having open conversations to challenge stereotypes could make a real difference. Getting involved in advocacy and pushing for policies that protect against discrimination would also be powerful. Building a strong support network where women lift each other up is another great way to handle things without alienating people or assuming the worst about all men. Ultimately, while it’s important to take a stand, I think it’s better to do it in a way that shows strength and thoughtfulness, not just reaction.

I've become really disillusioned with how the media is fueling this issue, which might not even be as big as it's made out to be. And please, let’s not cherry-pick stories to prove a point—I do know misogyny is real. But I also believe that women have come a long way. Yes, there will always be some misogynistic men out there, but the progress we've made should remind us to keep our heads straight and avoid reacting in ways that make us look foolish.

In my view,  I suggest women keep their hair, winter is coming, and no one cares that you made yourself unateactive to make a point.

"Your body, my choice", makes me think about a baby (with a body) in the womb and his Mother says to him, "it's my choice whether you live or die."
So no, I do not support that.

But, HA, of course you don't  care about that body, on that you have been crystal clear!

If this has anything to do with one person having power, control, or dominance over another or that consists of inflicting pain or doing harm to a person, an individual, NO, I don't support that!

I have written several articles about criminal illegals here in America brutalizing women and how it must end. But, maybe I haven't  made myself as CLEAR as you have made yourself!

Not sure how much clearer I can be.
But, isn't Sex Ed and gender orientation big in blue counties? Maybe that's where they are "getting this".
Have you read any content from some of the books in children's libraries? Parents blush when they read from them at School Board meetings!
Maybe that's where they are "getting this".
Perhaps these boys were exposed to a drag queen story hour and it traumatized them and that's where they

What do you intend to do about it?  You have shared it here on this forum, I would think most have seen your concern. What point are you trying to make by repeating it over and over?

D.J.Trump revers The Constitution of The United States. He will not become a dictator.
Who would want to be a tyrant of some type?

The tyrant is the most hated of men. This profound fact is revealed in Plato's Republic.

Trump likes his popularity. He is sensitive and kind underneath his sorta raunchy exterior. Ultimately, I believe he sincerely wants what's best for the country.

He knows the rich, the middle class and those who are struggling to make ends meet will benefit from a percolating economy and he understands how to establish the conditions for it. He is the one who can save us at this point in time. Life has become very complicated on so many levels. He has an extensive amount of experience in the real world of hiring, firing, networking and huge financial dealings and concerns. He sees the big picture and has a deep sense of justice.

This man did not stop working to get people an board with his vision for America. It includes the greatness of the past and the greatness of the future including new technology and the boundaries/laws needed to keep us safe. Was he God sent?
Was his last name "Trump" by mistake?

Keyword --- investigation.  As a MAGA supporter, I see those issues a bit differently.  Let me share.  I feel conservatives struggle with condemning someone without evidence, especially when society now seems to accept the idea that one can condemn first and try to find evidence later. For many of us, it's about waiting for solid proof before passing judgment.

I think conservatives see the word "investigation," but we also remember that the DOJ conducted an investigation into the accusations involving Gaetz and ultimately declined to prosecute due to lack of evidence. Personally, I believe the DOJ is our number one law enforcement agency, staffed with the best people representing the agency. While I understand that a congressional committee has been conducting its own investigation for over a year, I can't help but wonder why two investigations are taking place when the DOJ has already declined to prosecute. Congress doesn't have the power to prosecute, so this seems like it could be unfair. These accusations have been hanging over this man’s head for years now, and it raises the question of whether this extended scrutiny is truly justified.

Jose Antonio Ibarra, the man charged with the murder of Laken Riley at the University of Georgia, had a prior criminal record in the U.S. after entering unlawfully. He was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in September 2022 near El Paso, Texas, and released on parole for further immigration processing. In August 2023, he was arrested in New York on charges of endangering a child and a motor vehicle violation but was released before a detainer could be issued.

This man should have never been in our Nation, period. This is what happens when the borders are left open, and invitations are sent out.

Trump has proposed seeking a law to impose the death penalty on any migrant who kills an American. This measure, he suggests, would serve as a strong deterrent against violent crimes committed by individuals with criminal records, including murder, who have been allowed entry into the United States. Such a policy, he argues, aims to address the serious issue of violent offenders being released into American communities due to gaps in current immigration enforcement.

I hope Trump will work hard to deport and rid the country of every criminal that Biden let in.

And we did not need to think or predict what Biden would do --- he systematically brought our nation to its knees.  And you speak of being afraid --- you should be afraid, Biden has let thousands of rapists and murderers. Hopefully, Trump can find these criminals and get them and deport them.

I agree, Trump has brought up that he would like a law if an illegal migrant kills an American they would get the death penalty. Much of illegal migrant crime is not reported

Illegal migrant Alexandre Romao De Oliveira, a Brazilian national, was previously convicted of child rape in Brazil before fleeing to the U.S. He was arrested in Methuen on November 18, 2024 rape of a child.

illegal migrant Billy Erney Buitrago-Bustos, a Colombian national who overstayed a visa, was arrested in Pittsfield after being charged locally with the rape of a child by force.

illegal migrant Mynor Stiven De Paz-Munoz, a Guatemalan national, unlawfully entered the U.S. and was arrested after being accused of child rape in Great Barrington.

I can't imagine the crimes that are not being reported.

Yes, if a Jew kills an Aryan German, he or she is subject to a death penalty just because of who they are, rather than meriting it based on the crime itself? Memories of Nazi Germany.

It's a shame when the left doesn't seem to understand the importance of having a secure border.  I don't know if the left can comprehend the difference between a legal and illegal immigrant.  I am certain having everyone go through the same immigration process in something that will NEVER be understood by those on the left.

This inability to have the situation in perspective is the reason people on the right ignore the musings of the left especially when it comes to immigration.  Their opinions are void of common sense, logic, and a value for the rule of law.

Protecting the border and American citizens are something the right takes very serious.  It's a shame the left does not.

The Democrats did not have a real Primary...

The media had to lie about Biden being "sharper than he's ever been"... then the media had to lie about how great Harris is while telling us Trump is the worst human to ever live...

Then there were all those pesky high inflation, multiple wars, open borders issues that seemed to annoy voters...

The Democrats' many failures and misconceptions (IE - that the majority of Americans would be OK with men competing with women in high school and college sports) are the reason why Trump is President.

One murder of an American by a migrant that has a criminal record is too much...  This is a very serious problem, and underplaying it seems cavalier.

I am referring specifically to illegal migrants who commit murder. I did not make mention of general crimes, as you seem to be addressing, which sadly even common crimes are not accurately calculated when considering statistical methods. The media often misrepresents this issue by failing to account for the population of migrants versus the crimes committed within that group. You can’t fairly compare the entire population of America against a small percentage of individuals who present as migrants; it skews the narrative and distracts from the real problem.

From my perspective, I don’t understand why concerns about Trump being authoritarian are so exaggerated. To me, his leadership reflects strength and a determination to address problems that have been ignored for too long. When it comes to enforcing immigration laws, for instance, I see his efforts as entirely in line with the law, not an overreach. It has been reported that over 13,000 migrants admitted to the U.S. have committed murder in their own countries. Shouldn’t Trump attempt to find and deport these individuals? That’s what our laws require. Migrants who have committed murder are supposed to be turned away by law, and enforcing that isn’t extreme—it’s common sense.

If it were your child, spouse, or family member killed by someone who was let into the country despite a criminal record, would you feel it was unreasonable to expect our government to do its job? For me, this isn’t about being cruel; it’s about protecting our communities and upholding the laws that are already in place. I don’t think it’s too much to ask that we prioritize the safety of Americans and follow the rules that are meant to protect everyone. To me, Trump’s focus on these issues is exactly what’s needed to restore fairness and security in this country.

Over the past four years, identifying the exact number of crimes committed by migrants in the U.S. is complex due to varying definitions, reporting standards, and legal statuses across jurisdictions. Recent reports indicate that as of July 2024, over 425,000 noncitizens with criminal convictions are on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)’s non-detained docket. Among them, 13,099 were convicted of murder, though many of these convictions date back decades and include individuals who entered the U.S. legally, such as green card holders. Some of these individuals are currently incarcerated in state or federal facilities, not at large in communities.

Additionally, 1,845 noncitizens face active murder charges, but their immigration status and the timeline of their crimes vary. The Department of Homeland Security clarified that a significant portion of these cases stems from decisions made in prior administrations, not exclusively the current one
          U.S. CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION

Is it not time to address these significant issues rather than continue ignoring them? Trump has committed to prioritizing the removal of migrant criminals, particularly those convicted of serious offenses like murder, to ensure public safety. What do you see as problematic with this commitment to enforcing laws already in place?  Shouldn’t we expect a president to address critical issues like illegal migrants who enter the country and commit crimes? Some of these individuals are waiting for asylum hearings, while many others have entered as “gotaways,” bypassing any form of detection or legal process. Addressing this problem is essential to maintaining public safety and ensuring our immigration system functions as intended.

Please reread my first paragraph. I am referring specifically to illegal migrants who commit murder. I did not make mention of general crimes, which sadly are not accurately calculated when considering statistical methods.

I am reading it. I too refer to illegal migrants who commit murder. It is only the Right that exaggerates the extent of crimes committed by illegal migrants relative to the rate among American citizens, right in the same vogue as Haitians eating their neighbor's pets. Exaggerating stokes your base about people of color which includes much of the migrants they constantly complain about. With the stoked attitudes they will be coming after me as well in time, just some of what I expect to spill from the "apple cart". Regarding the numbers being exaggerated by the Right, I will have to gather statistics to prove what I have heard from varied sources regarding this matter, even though it is not on Fox News. Who can prove me wrong?

I know what the real problem is, controlling the border. But extralegal summary executions of people outside the parameters of traditional justice solely based on their point of origin won't do for me.

Trump is a tyrant, he has said so multiple time in his utterances. If I can get the Right to stop trying to confuse us all with their constant spin on things, maybe we can begin to compare apples with apples.

Yes, let's tighten the border within the parameters of both American and international law, but don't make it a crime just to have a dusky complexion.

I expect the government to do its job whether it was a loved one of mine affected or not. But, of course, I am going to disagree about any idea of Trump's commitment to fairness and security rather than merely stoking the underlying racism and xenophobia latent within American society. The Haitian debacle, again, is a case in point

I recent noticed that you have added some material not here when I responded, initially.

            I will check it out.
