What are your thoughts on Julia Gillard, Australia's first female Prime Minister?
I think it is a good thing. It is always good to mix things up and see the results. The worst thing that can happen is for societies to go stagnant.
About time we had a woman Prime Minister. Other countries have been able to provide very competent women in this role for decades. Hooray for Aussie! We've got there at last.
Whether Julia is a good P.M. or a bad one in the time ahead is not the point, this nation has had some pretty bad male Prime Ministers and no one said they were ineffective or useless because they were men. It's about time the other 50% of humankind stepped up and began making their mark in running world affairs. My own sex, the men, have been stuffing things around by themselves for long enough.
