From January 1st until today, everything you have earned has gone for taxes. Now, you may start earning money for yourself.
Where did you get this date? There used to be a recognized tax freedom day in May / June, but of course it gets later every year. What are we gonna do when it hits Dec 31?
I see, according to the article tax freedom day happened on April 13, earlier than I expected. The "fluff" comes from the dubious "cost of regulation". This cost of course was not supported by any analysis, I doubt it would hold up under scrutiny. The point, regardless of the exact figures is valid: The combined Federal, State and Local governments take a ridiculous share of our income and it's only going to get worse.
That's when they pretend to pay us and we pretend to work.
