This is a vast over-simplification on my part, however... in the US we consume about 18.7 million barrels of petroleum a day, divide that by the 727 and you get about 40 days. Drop in the bucket, I mean barrel...
It is symbolism over substance. OPEC says there is too much crude oil in the market now. West Texas producers are starting to stock pile it for lack of a market. Release a few million barrels from the reserves is not going to significantly affect pricing but it does play well with the speculators who buy and sell it...Clinton pulled the same symbolic crap to no avail. If 727 million barrels are significant, then why is the EPA forbidding Shell from drilling 27 billion barrels off the Alaska Coast. This is all bullshit and lies. WB
