Do you think it is appropriate for schools to constantly send solicitations home for fund raising?
My son is in Kindergarten and two to three times a week he brings home fliers and brochures for school fund raising programs. Some of these fund raisers are ridiculously expensive for the products and it is clear that the companies providing the products are passing the cost of the product and the shipping as well as the funds going to the school on to the customers. I can ignore these fliers, and not buy anything but having over a hundred fundraisers during a school year is in my opinion excessive. I already pay taxes and vote for levies, how much money to the schools need?
That is a lot. I would say yes, children need involvement in school events. But over doing it someone should talk to the school about sending all the fliers. They should do something differently instead of wasting paper and creating clutter for childrens backpacks.
The future generations that will one day govern our nation, education is taking a hit. I've noticed that when budget cuts are required it seems to hit the younger generation and then the older generation. read more
