If the government is going to use more drones, what protections should be in place?
The government is going to increase the use of robot planes (drones) for a variety of reasons. We have no reason to expect any privacy in public right now. What protections and policies are best. What policies would prevent abuse and misuse while requiring problem correction and proper compensation when something or someone goes wrong.
As cryptic as it seems to be using drones to fight wars statistics show that they actually save more lives on both sides. Putting soldiers in areas where drones go means definite casualties and more civilian deaths happen in those situations. I'm sure many would like to see the war end but If military action is going to continue to be taken then drones are the best option.
If there's drones in the air, one has to ask, "who cares?" They're too high for you to see them, no matter what building you stand on. Furthermore, because of their low profile activity you'll forget about them not long asking the question "what privacy do we have left?"
As for security, drones are very hard to meddle with. I'm not saying that from experience of handling them, but one also has to ask, "if drones are looking at public places and terrorists see the stuff going on, again, who cares?" There's nothing an enemy force could learn from the streets of London.
