What happened to the first 13th amendment?
The first one passed both houses but was not ratified, the second one was passed and ratified. or, the first one was lost due to the start of the civil war. I hope someone has a clear answer as to what really happened.
There have actually been three "13th Amendment's":
The first was the "Titles & Nobility" Amendment, which would have made it illegal to accept money or title from any foreign head of state, without the express permission of Congress.
The second was in 1861. In an effort to stop the South from seceding, there was a proposed amendment that would have prohibited any future amendment or law from abolishing slavery.
Then there was the 13th Amendment that made it into the Constitution, abolishing slavery.

If you were King for a day, what elements of of the U.S. Constitution amd its Amendments would you want to see deleted, repealed, added, or mofified to make it fit more to the way the SIGNERS of the Constitution intended it to mean, given their philosophical druthers and not the political realities...
