There is a background investigation before you can purchase any firearm in the United States. People who commit crimes normally buy them illegally.

I understand it must be there...but had the authorities been more vigilant, the horrific shootout at Connecticut  and the loss of precious lives could have been avoided.  The sense of insecurity which results after this takes a long time to go away.

It depends which country you live in and how sensible the people are ? At some places keeping a gun is a status symbol, for few others it's pure fun and for few it becomes a obsession.
Unlicensed guns are trending now, and think that should really be controlled, rather than limiting people, the source point should be stopped and eradicated.
Guns looks good in movies, people shooting around, but surely not in real life !!

Guns should be given to those who know when to use it and think twice before using it.....a person who has a sound mind and uses guns to protect others. A mentally ill person having a gun will harm others as well as himself.
      Thanks for your opinion.

This animal in Connecticut stole the firearm used in these brutal murders. It was not a case of firearms being sold to the wrong person.

There is strong gun control in the U.S.  The sad thin g is, is that criminals can gt guns on the Black Market.  They have an easier time getting contraband than the honest citizen that tries to do things legally.

I think it is a universal problem. It is so easy to get away after doing things illegally and the  common and the honest citizen suffers time and again.
      Thanks for answering.
