Should Scotland become independent?
The current Scottish government think that Scotland should become an independent country. What do other people here think?
I'm all for it, as long as they don't whine for subsidies from the English Parliament.
As a start, we should take away the voting rights of Scottish MPs in the House of Commons, especially when they are voting on specific, English issues.
I imagine there won't be any Scottish MPs in the House of Commons if Scotland becomes independent.
I do agree that Scottish MPs shouldn't vote on solely English issues like education, health etc though.
I did say as a start, there are Scotttish MPs in Parliament now, and they vote on issues that are only to do with England and the rest of the UK.
As an Englishman i think we have worked well together for centuries so why change a good partnership because a few politicians want more power?
The SNP a nationalist party have extolled all the benefits of independence to the electorate unfortunately they haven't as yet mentioned the bad points although i do believe the Scottish people are more in tune with whats happening and what will happen with their country, hopefully they will make their decision with their heads and not their hearts.
I think it could go either way still. In general I think it is probably best to keep the Union though, as I don't think the benefits will outweigh all the hassle.
No, daydreams, if they want independence, then that is what it is, get out of the Union.
