Why does the media defend the presidents vacations?

Just wondering, because I thought media usually casts aspersions at a president taking a vacation. .

I'm not sure. The media doesn't really interest me because that is someone's biased opinion usually. An individuals actions interest me. Acts speak louder than words. If the the numbers tagged on those trips are real, then Obama has my attention.

Is having your attention good or bad?

During campaigns, politicians give millions of dollars to networks, ostensibly to drum up votes for campaign ads. In reality, they do it to gain media support. It's been going on in the US for over a hundred years

Bad attention. I hate debt. Yes, but those are groups or individuals blowing their own money away. Where does the money that the president use on his vacations out of his yearly salary or from government funds?

Not sure? But as to this.....everyone should be entitled to take a vacation.  You just hear about the president more, because, well, he's the president.

Every Pres, (GOP & Demo) has taken what many of us see as exorbitant vacations, but if I go away for the weekend or week, I don't have to take the black box with the okay to bomb someone in it,  or a big security detail with me. Even Ike caught h

I take vacation but not nearly as much as this President. Every time I turn around, he's on vacation.

I would support presidential vacations if I were in the media.  A president needs a vacation just like the rest of us.  I want a president who is balanced in his life.  I don't want a stressed out, overworked president.  They are basically on the job 24/7 anyway-so, even on vacation they are working.

Just look at how many millions of dollars the president paid the media to buy advertising air and print content during his 2012 campaign. Networks and publishers are businesses that are supposed to make money for their shareholders. Do you honestly think they would tear down the president, who is a loyal customer, that gives them so much money? That would not be ethical for any corporation to defame a paying customer. Are you seeing the flaw in our system?

The mainstream media is a liberal press and I personally have not noticed any common sense at all in that particular area. Seems to me in one way or another the media defends everything this president does -- and hopes to sway public opinion his way. I have little to no admiration for today's press. I agree that everyone should have a vacation but seems this administration takes LOTS of vacations -- and the American public pays for a lot surrounding those vacations whether the president and his family actually "pay" for the vacation out of their own pockets or not. The president must have safe transportation, communication, security, etc., etc. -- even on vacation -- and we the public pay for all that. Kinda strange to me when so many folks are out of work and there's kids going to bed hungry. The sequester also seems to be affecting everyone but the president -- and he's supposed to be our leader?

Thanks for confirming what I thought.  There is no rhyme no reason these days to what our nations ruling class does.

Basically the news media is a job...and there are guidelines that they have to follow...it appears in todays society, many of the working class are Democratic.
Hence why would you bite the hand that feeds you ? Just as in any other business, such as the Healthcare field today Physicians write Rx and treatments vs  " a cure "...because Pharmaceutical companies are powerful...so I don't believe media is going to " cut off their nose to spite their face"....
Everything today has to be politically correct/ appropriate...etc...as far as vacations..this President takes many more than any other in the past...that includes WWII /Korean /Vietnam / etc....and there were some rough times then...
just my thoughts...look forward to reading others....

Not a big fan of paying that much attention to the media.  If they're talking about a president's vacation then they don't have much to talk about.

Obama and Bush both greyed immensely after taking office.  The before and after photos are ridiculous.  The president is one person who needs vacations the most (within reason).

If you're trying to say the media as a whole is bias toward the current president, that's a whole different issue.

There is "news" and there is "media." Usually, the news reports while media puts their spin on things. With that being said, this President has taken a tremendous amount of vacations. Even the Vice President has taken 3 vacation in 3 months for 2013. The last one totaled over $1 million just for the hotel! That is just ridiculous in my opinion. I believe that these positions need vacations, but I do believe it's hypocritical to demand CEOs of Fortune 500 companies to stop jetting around in private planes. How can they do that when they are actually traveling on taxpayer dollars, and many are living on food stamps and unemployment? I don't feel this Administration has shown any concern for the United States' budget at all. They seem to be in Dream Land.
