What does it take to stop war?

Since man set foot on this earth war seems to be following man.  Is there a way to stop war?

The answer to the worlds problems is found in the home. The solution to war is often taught to children. Forgive people when they do something you don't like. Respect other people's things. Do unto others what you would have them do unto you. Either we go all out nuclear war and wipe out all life on earth or we do what we were taught as children.

    Agree to disagree.
Most wars start over differences in opinion, religion, race, etc.

If we just agreed to disagree, and live life peacefully next to each other....no war.

jl--A very nice thought, but I am afraid it does not address the real world. What of the person who not only wants you to agree, but your obedience?

When the individual understands that he must be responsible for his own life and that what others have is not theirs. The human need to control others by virtue of a deity belief, a belief that equality demands me to take from others and meter out to those who have not earned it; war will continue.
War will end when the human begins to reason life objectively and as long as we have leaders who promote themselves by promising a Utopia and people who greedily accept such a promise, war will continue.

Human nature will prevent peace from ever happening. Our human nature makes us find fault in things that are different than what we are. Therefore there will always be war. jlpark has a good point, if we could just agree to disagree the problem would be solved. Sadly that concept goes completely against our basic human nature.

Violence begets violence. This is what fuels wars, the anger becomes so entrenched that the initial reason for the fight becomes secondary. Even on a personal basis we have to pick our battles so what chance do we have of solving wars? There are no winners when it comes to war. I think its better to keep talking about peace and telling our leaders that is what we want. Our leaders need to promote peaceful values and support all the humanitarian agencies out there who are helping the innocent victims of these horrible wars.
