Should prisoners serving life sentences have a right to peaceful death in prison at their choosing?
Should prisoners serving life sentences have a right to peaceful death in prison at a time of their choosing? Anyway, why should they have to endure life psychological suffering in jail when at the end of it all they will have to die in prison?
Yes indeed, they should be given the option of assisted suicide while they are serving their sentence.
Why should they have to endure psychological suffering jail? Because they most likely murdered someone or committed some heinous crime, and they deserve to suffer. Especially if they are not sorry.
Not unless they're terminally ill, no.
They shouldn't be able to "opt out" of their sentence and choosing to die instead is definitely an opt out in my opinion.
If they ARE terminally ill, then sure, I think they should have the right to choose assisted suicide (just as I think everyone should be able to do).
But in law, death penalty is a tougher sentence than a sentence of a life in prison? They are opting for a tougher punishment.
I would have thought being in prison for life would be the toughest out of the 2 especially living with what they have done etc
The difference is that they're making the choice.
If they're choosing to die then it's probably because they feel it's the easier option. They shouldn't get to choose their own punishment (though IMO death shouldn't be a punishment anyway).

Why to sentence a person for 515 years in prison?Recently I was listening to news on a radio and I heard that some guy was sentenced for 515 years in prison. Also several years ago Bernard Madoff was sentenced for 150 years in prison. To me those two cases seem to be very weird and illogical, since...
