    I feel like most stereotypes of the wealthy and affluent are negative. People seem to believe that they're lazy, hate everyone, and think that they're better than everyone else. After spending time in Westport and Greenwich, Connecticut (one of the wealthiest places in the world, even before Beverly Hills) and watching Undercover Boss I conclude that these are usually wrong. Wealthy people work hard and usually gain wealth over time. Paris Hilton is in the minority, not the majority. She isn't the rule when it comes to wealthy people. Also, so many people want to be rich but they hate the rich. It's nearly impossible to become something you hate.

    It is the assumption that all rich people inherited it, and that all whites have an advantage from inherited wealth.
    90% of wealthy are first generation rich, and most family businesses fail in two or three generations, hence the saying shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations.
    But there's an assumption that if you are well off, you didn't earn that, your ancestors did. And an assumption that there's a carried over generational advantage, which doesn't exist.
