I don't think they can stop now, but they may get even more emotional, and personal about him, as they are starting to do with each other.

It would be better if the candidates could start comparing their positions on critical issues including those talked about by Trump.

It is February, and what are the issues that the candidates for the presidency are talking about. ??

      1. Immigration
      2. National Defense
      3. The Middle Class
      4. Taxation/Trade
      5. Border security
      6. Eminent Domain
      7. Law enforcement and overreach
and the biggest:  9.  What happens if we get a continuation of Obama?
      Admittedly another:  Trump

I did a cursory google on all the candidate positions, and I didn't see all of these issues. Thanks

No, I don't think we'll see their "best shots" until the field is narrowed down to two or three candidates. The RNC clearly does not want Trump or Cruz to be the Republican nominee.

Are the voters going to stay loyal to their party, or can they think on their own?

If people don't like the candidate chosen for a party's nominee many would rather stay home than stand in line to vote for someone they dislike. Most states are already Blue or Red.
Independents & swing state voters usually decide elections.

I live in S Cal and I have never waited in line to vote. The problem is that the states are red and blue, when they should be some shade of purple.
I agree with your last sentence.

Have you met Cruz? He is one creepy dude. They don't want Trump because he's a wild card and probably hard to control.
