If it is self defense, should it qualify as domestic violence?
The definition of self defense is defense of one's person or interests, especially through the use of physical force. In my opinion conducting violence for self defense is ok, if reason is justifiable, but not physical assault. But domestic violence is define as "violent or aggressive behaviour within the home" which make both self defense and physical assault, fall under the category, according to the definition, which in my view, is problematic, cause self defense for justifiable cause shouldn't be illegal,
Self defense is when you are defending yourself from someone else's violence or threat of violence.
If someone attacks you with a knife, your actions may be violence but are not illegal because it is self defense, including pulling out a gun and killing them.
One of the problems we have is the legal system seeing men who defend themselves against women throwing things at them or yelling at them for hours as the aggressors, minimizing or denying what she did. In those cases, you risk domestic violence charges for what is really self defense - and if in this case, get legal advice from an attorney who will defend you.
