Will this be an effective method to help deter motorcycle gang problem?

Motorcycle gang are amount most intimidating and savage urban criminal there is. In Australia, for example, motorcycle gang is a massive head ace for the government to deal with and have on more then one occasion been refer to as "urban terrorist" by experts. I got this idea to deal with the problem, (1) Increase the tax on purchasing a motorcycle of such form and increase license plate fee, making the bike less affordable for criminals (2) People who have criminal records are not allow to ride motorcycle of such form, if caught by police, can serve up to 20 years in prison, u think it work?

No, Why do people always want to fix outlaws with more laws. They do not follow the laws.

The criminal record is going to hurt people that have turned their life around from one mistake and have been functioning members of society for the last 15 or 20 years.

Raising the price of motorcycles and licenses makes everyone that rides pay the price. Not everyone that rides is in a gang.

Amen, Amen, and Amen. I have always said everything you say about criminals not following laws yet people want more laws that criminals do not follow. That's what makes them criminals.

I never imagined that motorcycle gangs would be an issue. Though I live in the US. Here they are not so much an 'outlaw' gang. Many motorcycle clubs or MC's as we call do a lot of good. Many raise money for worthwhile causes like save the children, cancer research and more.

There will always be an outlaw issue I think. Though here we have our issues too, just not motorcycle gangs. Some people are just not as genuinely good as the rest. There will never be a simple solution to the problem, we can't alter human nature. Everyone has free will, and the choose what path to take in life.

I would think making bit harder to purchase a motorcycle would have some impact on the problem. Though those with bad intent always seem to find a loophole.
