With improved armor, could melee combat with better melee weapon become more common in future war?

Eg. Europe since rifle introduce got no affordable armor that can stop bullets at any range and had all gunman infantry. Till 18th century, Asia, had armor that can stop even more powerful bullets at same range, but got weapon that can penetrate the armor, but only at closer ranger. As a result, Asia used swordsman and rifleman combined infantry till 18th century. With increase armor making long range penetration harder, could melee combat become increasing in future wars?

No, because terrorism mostly by Muslims and other forms of guerrilla warfare are becoming the dominant way to strike at an enemy.
Then there are the range of modern technologies from drones to automated security systems designed to kill intruders before they get close to your people.
So I'd say we're moving as far as possible from hand to hand combat except for entertainment.
