Should we elect people to office and run for another job before they?

    Senator Kamala Harris elected in 2017 announced she is running for President in 2020.
    Why is this allowed?
    Shouldn’t someone running for high office complete their term first?
    I know Barck Obama used the same game plan but look how that turned out?
    He was inexperienced and made a mess of things in his 8 years...
    That we are still cleaning up today.

    The bigger question to all voters is this?
    Why vote for someone who had no intention to serve out their term?
    Perhaps it should be a rule...of some sort?
    Just thinking out loud.

    If a reality TV star with no political experience can run for president, then I don't see the logic in preventing a newly elected legislator from running.

    I don't think there should be any rule keeping anyone from throwing their hats in the ring. Should we vote in inexperience? As pp noted, Trump was inexperienced in politics.

    I think we'll see more and more people running who are outsiders of politics. The powers that be have poisoned the water so much we have lost all trust in Washington. I think it's dangerous, for smooth government, we'll gasp at the people running because of strange and often outlandish ideas, but it's an expected byproduct of what Washington has done over the last decade.
