    Once more, a step too far . . .

The story is that some SpaceX employees circulated an open letter criticizing Musk's Twitter behavior. Musk's response was to fire the organizing ring of employees. Bless their hearts, it just ain't fair, it's their company, right?

Apparently, Musk thinks SpaceX is his company and just doesn't see any sense in keeping dissenters onboard. That makes sense to me.

Pick your source for details, (The Verge has the letter contents)

Guess it isn't their company any more, is it?  Odd that some people find it reasonable to dictate the behavior of their employer but would scream to the heavens if the employer attempted to dictate their actions out of the workplace.

Your "action outside the workplace" thought also shows that liberals and conservatives do have things in common. Conservatives would also have a problem with attempts to control their non-work activities. The difference is that Conservatives know who owns the jobs.

That "C" was a punctuation thing, I think political conservatives also feel like their non-work actions, (now, be reasonable with that determination),  are their own. I must be missing a big point if that thought causes you to just shake your head. What is it?

Oh, it wasnt that line. Its the whole thread. This line is particularly funny.

"The difference is that Conservatives know who owns the jobs." smile

Why do you think conservatives don't know who 'owns the jobs'?

Instead of dancing, how about your perspective, don't you think employers 'own' the jobs they provide?

As I see it Musk is in his right to fire those employees, yet for what? I don't mean that as a defense for the employees. I also reflected on the trend of cancel culture this and that, which surely the media will feed to its audience.

Most states are at-will employment states meaning:

"At-will employment means that an employer can fire an employee for any reason (if it's not illegal), or no reason, with no warning, and without having to establish just cause. About 74% of U.S. workers are considered at-will employees."

The only complexity I see is the matter of unemployment and any lawsuits that may arrive do to his action.

This reminds me when I first joined HP and wrote on business stuff. I use to share them on Facebook to get views. I wrote one on leadership and did use both online references and books from my library like Management by Peter F. Drucker.

Anyway, someone who read it pointed it out to the President of our company and he took umbrage to it. Oh no!! Having a somewhat close relationship with him we spoke in private about it other than the owner sat in. All came to a peaceful resolution with the miscommunications within it. Yet, the main reason why was because the owner of the company liked it.

The bottom line was through osmosis my goal of writing on business at HP was now canned.
