"President Donald Trump signed a memorandum Monday establishing a task force to address crime in Memphis, Tennessee, akin to his initiative cracking down on crime in Washington.
"I'm signing a presidential memorandum to establish the Memphis Safe Task Force," Trump said in the Oval Office Monday. "And it's very important because of the crime that's going on, not only in Memphis, in many cities, that we're going to take care of all of them a step by step, just like we did in D.C."
Trump said the effort would include the National Guard, the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Trump said in a Friday interview with "Fox & Friends" that Memphis, Tennessee, is "troubled" and that "we’re going to fix that just like we did Washington."
Trump initially mobilized 800 D.C. National Guard troops to reduce crime in Washington Aug. 11. Additionally, National Guard troops from Ohio, West Virginia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee were dispatched to support the Trump administration’s effort.
"It’s very important because of the crime that’s going on, not only in Memphis, in many cities," Trump said Monday. "The task force will be a replica of our extraordinarily successful efforts here, and you’ll see it’s a lot of the same thing."
National Guard troops are reserve forces that are activated to handle state and federal operations, like natural disasters. State governments typically oversee their respective National Guard forces. However, the federal government oversees the District of Columbia National Guard.
Trump said that the request to address crime in Memphis came from Tennessee's Republican Gov. Bill Lee. Meanwhile, Memphis' Mayor Paul Young, a Democrat, said in a Saturday interview with CNN that he wasn't "happy" about the upcoming deployment."

Just my view --- President Trump continues to show strong leadership and a results-driven approach in tackling crime across the country. His decision to establish the Memphis Safe Task Force mirrors the effective measures he implemented in D.C., bringing together federal agencies and the National Guard to directly address rising crime. It’s impressive to see a president take concrete action, step by step, to protect communities and ensure public safety. Initiatives like this demonstrate his commitment to law and order and his hands-on approach to solving real problems that affect everyday Americans.
Working on keeping promises.
Time will tell. It is my expectation that all his efforts in DC (and likely anywhere else) are going to work only as long as federal forces are there in large numbers.
As soon as they leave the local politicians will revert right back to "business as usual", criminals will again go free and cops will once more be hamstrung and unable to perform their duties.
Time will tell.
I completely agree-- time will tell. But I also love to see a warm body in the White House trying like hell to do something--- try something other than get out the big ass broom, and sweep under a carpet that must be mountain tall by now. Could it work to wake up citizens in these cities, to just how nice it is to live with little to no crime?
Yes, it is nice to see someone trying something other than pretending it doesn't happen, placating criminals, and encouraging more of the same. Trump has certainly left the road liberals follow!
I do think some will awaken and look around at how nice it CAN be. And the loud voices of the left will be screaming through their tears about the intolerance towards criminals that were, after all, created by the evil racist white people. Will those voices win, or will reason assert itself?
But many may simply realize how freeing it is to no longer live in constant fear. Many might even wonder why no one helped them sooner. We can only hope that we hear the voices on the left screaming, wringing their hands. It will serve to further our point; their ideologies are something they made others live with, while they were cozy and warm and safe.
I say reason will win; it has already been winning, but they just did not take note of it. I did-----
The" business as usual," meaning that crime was trending down? Why cut crime funding for programs that were working in cities? Creating a problem to say that you can come in and "solve it"?? I mean that's what the Trump Administration did. Makes no sense to then spend a million dollars a day for guard to come in pick up trash and plant flowers...
This isn't a strategy, it's a performance. How does sending in the guard address crime in the long run? What strategies are backed by data that have been shown to effectively reduce crime?
And please if you can't or don't want to answer the questions just ignore it I don't want to read the waffling and pretzeling...
Memphis resident: “It's just so dangerous that you can't get out of your car. You can't go to the grocery store... So, yeah, I want to see the crime stop”

How to send in the guard, who cannot perform law enforcement functions, address crime? And you realize that crime is trending down in memphis? Trump has taken funding away from cities for programs.... How is how is that a solution? This makes absolutely no sense in the long run.
Making America Safe Again
He delivered a six-pack of whoop-ass they won’t forget anytime soon.
When I listened to Director Kash Patel’s testimony yesterday, what stood out most was the clear, operational emphasis: he described a concentrated effort to surge federal resources into the FBI’s field offices and to partner more closely with local police where violent crime and exploitation were concentrated. He framed these moves as part of a broader, nationwide push to restore public safety by putting more boots and more casework capacity directly into the communities that need it.
Patel gave the initiative a name that has already been used publicly: Operation Restore Justice. He explained that the operation is not a one-off press release but a coordinated, multi-office campaign, working across all 55 FBI field offices and in partnership with U.S. Attorney offices, to identify, track, and arrest violent offenders and predators and to rescue victims. The DOJ and FBI have used that name in their May rollout and follow-up briefings.
The results Patel highlighted during the hearing are significant and come directly from his sworn testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Operation Restore Justice, first announced in May, has already delivered impressive reductions in crime across the nation.
Kash Patel’s Reported Results Since Taking Office (Feb 21, 2025)
Metric / Claim Kash Patel’s Reported Numbers

I have to say, Kash Patel has proven exactly why President Trump was right to put him in charge of the FBI. The results we’re seeing in just a few short months speak for themselves: major reductions in violent crime, thousands of dangerous criminals taken off the streets, and real progress against human trafficking and gangs like Tren de Aragua. Yes, the Democrats blasted him during the hearing, but that only shows how effective he’s been.
The Democrats pounded him for letting go of certain employees they named and for turning down a half-billion dollars in wasteful spending. Kash made it clear he wouldn’t discuss those employees because they have ongoing lawsuits pending, and he wasn’t about to interfere with that process. Hopefully, I won’t see anyone jumping in with the usual “what ifs” on my thread. Or maybe just relish in the fact that someone is finally doing something about crime, and the stats prove it’s working.
So are we going to continue using the guard indefinitely in random cities that suit Trump's fancy at the cost of $1 million per day? Or are we going to actually reinstate the money for programs and policing that was working before these theatrics???? I mean Bowser stated that the funding that was cut was earmarked for policing LOL...

This report proves there was no insurrection on January 6. If someone wanted to have an insurrection, why would they order 10,000 troops to help with crowd control? The report proves that President Donald Trump ordered 10,000 troops for January 6 and it was the democrats who decided not...
