China and the Nobel Prize for Liu Xiaobo

    Well, so we have an empty chair receiving the Nobel prize this year. Wonder if this year's award to Liu Xiaobo would change in any way the Chinese regime - for the worse possibly?

    It was probably a stupid move on the part of the regime to seek to so publicly dissuade countries from attending the ceremony and condemning the whole thing. It seems to have backfired and probably resulted in wider viewership and coverage of this year's ceremony.

    It is sad that they chose to jail this man for 11 years for putting forth his views. Hopefully, this prize won't ensure that he stays in jail for 11 years or longer!!
