Have term limits destroyed America?

Have term limits on politicians, weaken the back bone of American democracy, by infringing on the age old customs of I'll scratch you're back if you scratch mine?

Term limits, in my humble opinion have polarized those men or women representing states(the people) in a decision-making forum, from doing their job properly.  It has polarized the American populace to a "by the _____?______ Party line" dividing the opposing sides into a feeding frenzy of political chaos, instead of how it use to be- where members of the opposing sides worked together within reason, mostly because of their long history together (working side by side).  I feel it is destroying the fabric of American politics.

What do you think?  Are you concerned by this?  My state has term limits.  I naively voted for the constitution amendment in my state.  Had I known the untold damage- I would have voted no.  Easy to say that now........
