Match Dating Worldwide to Find Love

Updated on June 19, 2010

A Great Story I'd Like to Share

I was 24 when I had my first encounter with a match dating service. It was just for fun. I was conducting an experiment of sorts. There was no real belief I would find my soul mate, but I wasn’t opposed to that idea.

Find Your Perfect Match

Within the first day I had several “matches” made for me.  I talked to some, ignored others, and saved a few to check on another day.  Within a week or so, I had joined chat rooms and made friends from places as far away as Sri Lanka.

That is one of the things I loved the most about these sites.  I met people from so many places, and learned about different parts of the world that I will probably never be able to visit.  It was exciting to be involved in this site.

Not long after joining, I read the profile that would change my life.  He was five years older than me.  We believed the same things, liked some of the same authors and had the same goals.  I wrote him a letter, considering it to be just another friend I would make.  Within a few hours I received a letter in return.  Little did I know at the time, but this was the first correspondence I would have with my future husband.

Match Dating Sites

That was back in 1998.  Since that time, these match dating sites have become more sophisticated.  Online dating at the time was still a little strange to most, but now it is just one more way to meet people.  When I stood in front of my friends and took my wedding vows, I knew only a few people who had even met a person from their cyber chats.  Now I know quite a few couples who are happily married all because of these internet romances.

At all of these sites, you will find a list of questions.  Depending on the site itself and how developed it is, you might find some of the questions to be very detailed and even personal.  When you give them your information, these match dating services do just what they advertise.  They put the details you gave them into a big database and compare them to others all over the world, and it is really amazing to see the results!

Somehow, in all that data, two people are matched.  Through the sharing of ideals, goals, attitudes, and desires, a plan in mapped out, and individuals find each other.  To me it is unexplainable, but I have seen it work over and over again.

Be Smart Online

Of course, these match dating sites are met with extreme skepticism. I remember the questions I was asked when people found out that I was getting ready to meet someone I only knew from the internet. Friends and family were worried for my safety. What if he wasn’t who he said he was? The fact is, regardless of where you meet someone, they can lie to you. All the things that people throw at you because you are choosing to look online for a date are the same things we worry about when we meet at work, church, or a bar.

If you are looking for love in all the wrong places, maybe it is time to give match dating a try. I met my husband on a Christian dating site. I have a dear friend who recently married a man she met on one of those match dating sites you see advertised on television. My brother met his wife on a different site than either of us. The fact is, if you know what you are looking for, these sites can help you find it. Naturally, be cautious. Meet in public. Don’t give out too much information to a stranger. All the things you have known from kindergarten. But, don’t be scared. Maybe you will find your match today!
