One of the basic necessities that we need to maintain our own sanity is the gift of FRIENDSHIP. It is something that keeps us going especially in the worst times of our life. It is the mutual feelings of trust and affection and the behavior that typify relationships between friends. It is a two- way and voluntary exchange of unconditional love for one another. There is easiness in this relationship because it is based on acceptance and love. Each person is free, and there are no strings attached. We are not building friendship with the other to change him.

Of all relationships, real FRIENDSHIP may be the MOST BEAUTIFUL kind. It is something that one can share to anyone he trust and feel comfortable being himself with, without the fear of being judged or rejected. It is a relationship that one can have in multiples but still conform to the society’s norms. Friendship’s love and affection can be shared with all the people who touch our life – to our parents, siblings, spouse, children and other people who play different roles in our life.

Meaningful relationships are strengthened with FRIENDSHIPS...

... where is friendship?...

“I never really knew how vital friendship is… until I was exposed to the real world- where there are people claiming to be my friend yet they disappear like a smoke with the small mistake that I made…” (DjBryle Works, “I Miss My REAL FRIEND”)

Friendship is something that we achieve naturally. We meet people everyday, but we can’t build real friendships with every one of them. There are rare acquaintances that turn into friends – some may linger for months… and some may stay a little longer. But REAL FRIENDSHIPS last for a lifetime, and no matter what life may offer, it remains so sturdy that no time and even the longest distance could break. There are friendly relationships that we build so naturally and spontaneously that we don’t have to try very hard to keep, yet we know and feel how much blessed we are because we have these people who make our own little world a better and brighter place to live in.

Real friendships can be seen and felt in gestures that may not be noticed and appreciated most of the time. We may see them in the eyes of our mom or dad who give us a tap on our shoulder to make us feel more confident, a high five we share with our spouse or siblings whenever something amuses us or even giggles we share with one another everyday.

We start building friendships in our childhood, some friends may stray, and if we’re lucky, some just keep being our friend. They may come and go during our lifetime… but real friends are meant to be cherished. For always, they are the ones who reinforce the positive in our life and at the same time coping up and being sturdy for the negative.

... the magnificence of friendship...

Real friends are our very own mirrors. They show us our most beautiful self, help us bring out our very best yet they give us the opportunity to know our own limitations and ugliness – not to make us feel bad or put us down but to help us become better. They are the ones who know how to forgive our mistakes even before we find a way to forgive ourselves. They can say right in front of our face how stupid we are but hug us tight enough to let us know that it’s ok to be stupid sometimes. They are the ones who understand us even in our silence. They watch us in our times of victory, not with envious eyes, but with a heart full of gladness, and with eyes that show how much they are so proud of us. They are the ones who are SILENTLY there when we need to be alone… and they know when to BE LOUD enough to make us feel their presence.

Real friends do not really need to be physically present all the time. There are friends who never show up even in our special days, yet they come running in our worst times. There are friendships that we never talk often of. They stay and linger in silence, yet we feel their presence despite being physically absent. We share this kind of relationship with real friends who are very far or some what away from us, that most of the times we fail to even say a word or two. Busy schedules, fast pace of life and growing up may hinder us from communicating as often as we used to, yet we know deep in our hearts that we share a friendship with them that is so priceless, not because they don’t have a value, but they are meant to be treasured much more than anything in this world. We always know that we can keep them for life.

FRIENDSHIP is the MOST MAGICAL gift that can be present in any kind of relationship, for it is the one that keeps us who we really are but gives us the widest room to improve and grow without the fear of rejection. And if we commit mistakes along the way, we are confident that we will never be alone. When we are misconstrued and when we feel like the world has gone out, the friendship we keep picks us up and put the broken pieces of our hearts back together… never minding the scars. It keeps us human for it reminds us our need to have people who truly love and care for us because they are always there through the good and the bad. It reminds us of how beautiful life is, and that we are blessed even at our worst times because these are the times when we realize who our real friends are. And victory is not so fulfilling at all without real friends to share it with… IT IS SWEET TO CELEBRATE YOUR LITTLE PIECE OF SHANGRI- LA WITH REAL PEOPLE WHO WERE THERE WHEN YOU WERE CARRYING YOUR HEAVIEST BURDEN.

“I feel so sad whenever something amuses me and I have to laugh alone. I miss my real friend even more…” (DjBryle Works, “I Miss My REAL FRIEND”)

One could own the world… but the richest man could never measure up with the one who keeps the gift of friendship that one shares with a true and real friend. After all, we find so many ways to put “LIFE” into our LIFE because of real friendships we keep and hold most dear in our hearts.

(This is a tribute to all the friends who know deep in their hearts that they have always been true… and to all the ones who know the significance of having what one can call A REAL FRIEND.)
